HELP! EATC wire burnt open.

I bought Blackbeauty2's Marauder and the EATC was not working right so I removed it today. I checked the grommets and they had been changed so I put it back in. I started the car and turned on the eatc and hit automatic and nothing happened so I pushed outside temp and it read -40. So I pulled the unit back out and checked the connectors and they were in tight but when I turned it over I saw a melted wire. Apparently something shorted out and the wire burned itself open. It goes into the gray connector and the wire looks like it is pink/black. Does anyone know what this wire is for and where it goes? If is somewhere I cannot get to does anyone know of someplace that won't charge an arm and leg to fix it?:help:

According to the wiring manual the pink / black wire is a ground. Don't know why it shorted out. I'd take a look at the harness (as far as you can see) and all the connectors.
