Ok, well it is more like a promotion, but I figured that title would get Casey reading this thread.

Today I was promoted from Sr. Design Engineer to Manager of Engineering Standard and Condition Assessment.

In this job, I will be managing the condition assessment group (the ones who go in after pressure parts replacement for steam boilers of power plants) and I the Engineering Standards side will allow me to ensure that the business side of the company follows procedures for product development and be an engineering consultant for others at the company.

Sweet!

Congrats on movement.

Thanks!

When I first read your post I thought it said "Congrats on a movement."

My first thought was, I'm not old enough for that to be impressive yet. :D

Don't feel bad Rex I just signed up for unemployment after the fire last Sunday, one newer coach completely destroyed and heavey smoke and water damage to the office. Glad the FireHouse is next to us:)

The hits just keep comming:eek:

Actually, this is for the same company that is in New England that has been allowing me to work remotely while I have been down in VA for my wife's grad school.

I'm sure that my return to Massachusetts this summer is required for the job.

Who are you working for?

I work for Alstom Power (formerly known as Combustion Engineering). A fun fact is that 1 out of every 2 lightbulbs in the US gets its power from a power plant that my company designed.

I'm very familiar with Alstom, having been an employee of Combustion (ABB) for a time in the past. You familiar with Dennis Nygart or Jaques Brignac?

I have heard the name Jaques Brignac, but haven't had any interaction with him. I work for the Thermal Services group, does he work for Thermal Systems?

I'm in the Fairlakes region of Fairfax. The company I work for is in Connecticut, so I will be moving back to New England as planned this summer.

I too was an employee of CE, back in the 70's as a union Boilermaker.
One of the better companies I worked for while building power plants throughout the country...
