Took my Marauder engined Factory Five Cobra to Fastlane Motorsports in Benson, NC last week and got a custom dyno tune. Car was originally running rich, especially at idle, and for some odd reason the rev limiter was set at 5000 rpm. Often felt like it was going to choke off when coming to a stop sign. And that 5000 rpm rev limit was driving me crazy. Just when it was starting to run strong it would hit the limiter and just go flat.
I was really impressed with the guys at Fastlane. They really seemed to know their stuff and have logged thousands of dyno runs - primarily with the 4.6 engines.
The max power shown at the top of the graph is overstated due to the blip and surge when he shutdown the run around 6200 but nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with the results. Looks to be around a solid 310 at the rear wheels.
It runs so much better now across the board from idle to 6000+. Really pulls strong to and past 6000. They set the new rev limit at 6500. The overall improvement just has me smiling - really a much more enjoyable car now!
For the record, I'm running a stock 4.6 dohc from a Mercury Marauder, long tubes from FFR, and a 90mm MAF with a T45 5 speed and 3.55 gears.
