Has anyone purchased a MM online? Site unseen (besides pictures and history reports) Just curious because I haven't found many in my local area and I do have a few months to shop and I want to find my ideal MM. Thank you.

Really nothing wrong with buying a car on line if you can find somebody in the seller's area that can check it out for you.
BTW, :welcome: where are you in SC?

I bought my current one online, direct from this site. I saw it the day it was delivered and have not regretted it yet!

I bought mine sight unseen. Of course it was from a reputable member of this site.
As said above, just make sure to have someone local check it out first.

I bought mine, sight unseen.... short of pictures. What sold me was that all the other local owners to him were kinda glad to see it go............. so they would have a chance at the local car shows.
No regrets what so ever.........

I bought mine sight unseen too, but it was new. Seriously though if there is a member of this site near the car you are looking at someone will usually be willing to go take a look for you. Then again, buying a car from a active member here is probably the best way to go. You know its been taken care of.

Timw286,
I purchased mine just over two months ago from a dealership in New Mexico (03 SB). They dropped the price from 13K to 11K (58K miles), so I had to jump on it. I didn't even ask any questions about it, other than has it been in an accident. After several frustrating days of trying to find a relatively inexpensive carrier to ship it, I ended up flying out there and driving it back. I consider myself lucky, considering all it has needed so far is a new set of tires and rotors. There were a couple of minor interior issues, but easy fixes. The only thing I didn't notice until I got it home was my passenger fog lamp lens is busted. One good thing I didn't notice until later was it has a 6-disc changer in trunk...I don't think the salesman even knew about it.
Just gotta think somebody upstairs likes me, because it didn't fall apart on the drive back to SC and I'm loving every minute I'm in my MM. Having an MM owner in the area to check it out is very good advice...I just didn't have the time to do that in my situation. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while...
I'm curious as well...where you at in SC? I think there's about half a dozen of us in the state already and always ready to welcome more!

Nice story about the drive. My son and I flew to Florida and drove all the way back non-stop for 21 hours.

Black on black, low miles and no mods, figure using the internet can make that happen

OK, so find an MM you want and ask if there is a member close by that can look at it for you.
I'd be happy to look at one for you in my area.

I bought my second one site unseen and had nothing but issues. Not sure if it was represented correctly the seller or if I'm just an overly anal prick but let me see.
Said the tires were like new but by the baldness (looked like an old set of Dooms)and the amount of rubber on the rear bumper when it was delivered either he or the truck drivers smoked them off before I got it.
Can't forget the cracked header, Metco CA bushings chewed to hell, leaking front seal and oil pan, water pump w/bad bearings, bad ball joints and endlinks everywhere (only thing left of the original front suspension now is the spindle and lower control arm body), trans that lost 3rd gear 2 weeks later, trans temp gauge wire just stuck through a hole drilled in the fire wall, corroded fuse where a wire was just stuck and held in place by the fuse to power a radar detector, along with tons of other little odds and ends that just stacked up and made me hate the car the first year and half I owned it.
Just do yourself a favor and have a REPUTABLE member take a look at it for you. Take your time and be picky. If you see one in the Tampa Bay area myself or another member would be more than happy to go take a look at it for you.
I looked for about 6 months, got over excited didn't want to wait for some one to look at it or fly out to it and jumped on it. If I had taken my time a much better deal would have come along: probably with alot more goodies than I got and I wouldn't have spent more than the cost of a SC kit to get the car running correctly.
Hindsight is always 20 20, you live and learn but I love my car now.

I bought my Marauder used in 2006 from a stealership. However, I did buy my 88 LTD Crown Vic sight unseen from ebay many many years ago for $600. It was as described. Did need paint, etc. as the police insignia were sand blasted off. Still drove it cross country a year before I got the MM. No major problems with the Vic and its still my occassional driver when I want to save some miles from the Marauder. The gas mileage on the Vic sucks in town, but with certain driving habits can be good on the highway. Having said that, its always wise to check the car out first before buying.

I bought mine in 2008 with 9156 miles on it. I live in Canada, and it was down in Tennessee! Was a big Ford dealership, had them take 40+ hi-res photos and had it shipped up here on a truck.
Best money I've spent to buy something sight-unseen.

Buying a car from a longtime member here (where you can go back and review their posts) is fine; I am not as trusting about buying a car sight unseen from a stranger.

Bought mine that way when it was new. I made the deal online and over the phone , but I didn't have the money sent until after I'd picked up the car.
