My Marauder has a hard time starting, only when cold, it finally sputters to life, but stalls when I hit the gas, When it is warmed up, it fires right up! I miss it roaring to life, and it is a little embarrassing in the parking lot after work. Can anyone help me on this. Plugs replaced 100km ago, fuel filter at the same time. K&N cold air intake installed, Could over-oiling of the filter cause this ? any other suggestions? thanks

I see what you did there.....
Might want to change that fuel filter, clean the MAF, IAC, PCV, and see what happens. I use a K&N but do not use the oil on it, just wash it about once a month.

I'd get some MAF and throttle body cleaner.
Clean the MAF and throttle body.
Clean the IAC located on the side of the throttle body.
Check the PCV and replace if necessary.
Clean the EGR valve with carb cleaner.

X2 on the IAC, and possibly the MAF (clean it I mean).

So you are defeating the purpose of the K&N filter. The oil actually helps the filter work.
When oiling the filter, use the oil sparingly, just enough to change the color of the filter. Only oil the outside, never the inside.
But the oiled filter on a piece of cardboard. Let it "drain" for an hour or so.
I have a spare filter that is cleaned and ready to go so I don't have to wait for it to dry and the oil drain off of it.

I'll never understand how adding oil to the surface of something helps with airflow.

^^^ I know there's a joke to be had in there somewhere...but can't get it at the moment.
You might have better air-flow without the oil; but with out it, you'll actually stop more dirt and crap with a dry paper filter.

Oil doesn't improve airflow, it makes it more "filter-y" because dirt and dust particles stick to it.

Then why not make it out of something that attracts dust and dirt magically, like those statically charged feather dusters. Or a silicone impregnated material. Hmmm....note to self: patent my ideas.
