Kinda has that Audi-VW Passat look. Everything but the dash looks German. It looks like it is really well built. This will be offered in front and all wheel drive. I hear maybe a SVT version later on.

hmm,.. it doesn't look like the early pics I saw,.. why do they always hook us with a great looking concept car,.. then take all the cool body mods off?

Well,. it's still worth a look,.. I'm glad to hear it'll be offered in AWD. Yup, I think I'll get one for the wife.

I like the looks of the Mercury version better.

Problem with these cars, upcoming AWD version or not, is they are first and foremost another FWD car.

I probably won't make it to the show--I already missed the media days (Monday-Tuesday) which are much less crowded. Would like to see pics of the 2005 Mercury Montego/Ford 500 (Montego is Mercury version of 500), 2005 Ford Futura, the Chevrolet SS concept (the Camaro reborn?), the 2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi, and of course, the all new 2005 Ford Mustang. Also any other new American RWD V8 sedans (if there are any). Don't worry about the new GTO--I think it looks funny. Does anyone know if the Ford 500 will be offered with a V8 (I know, the Aussies get all the good engines)? Apparently the Montego/500 is front-wheel drive with a later option for all-wheel drive . . .

Preview comments on the Mercury Montego stolen from edmunds.com:
"The design looks sleek but a smallish V6 and front-wheel drive may leave the Montego a step behind Chrylser's upcoming large sedans. The Montego is essentially Mercury's version of the Ford five-hundred. It will include a 3.0-liter V6, front- or all-wheel drive, an optional Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and an expansive cabin. The interior will feature a more upscale design with upgraded materials throughout."

Unfortunately, the front-end grille work on Chrysler's new 300C Hemi looks dog-azz ugly, IMHO. Too bad, since its 5.7-liter hemi V8 sounds awfully exciting.

It is my understanding that Ford will indeed offer an engine upgrade in the Five Hundred.

Great pics directedby!

I've got to say the 500 is a major disappointment.

The new Mustang nearly takes my breath away!

300C Concept Car last year was great looking as was the Magnum and Ford 500.

However, when these car companies redesign for the market place they take all the character and uniqueness out of the design and make the cars more mainstream.

The 300C is not a car for a 2%er.

I like the 'Stang. remings me of the late 60's GTs.

The 500 looks like a friggen Nissan Maxima. But I like the speakers in the rear.

AAHH! THE MARQUIS! IT'S GOT A DARK BLUE INTERIOR! *GASP...PUKE* I can't stand the dark blue, it's just as bad as all that sandy color they've got all over, it's just NASTY.

The new Mustang rocks. Ford says the SVT is gonna have an independent rear suspension, and their aming it to compete with the BMW M5! Of all things. The GT really sweet looking, especially the interior. It just looks right...but I dunno about those big ass head lamps in the grill.

It was my understanding from a FMC parts specialest that the 2002 did. Either way, there was a hiatus there somewhere and it's comin back.
