It a Marauder! :P
Contemplating the notion of Marauders with (non OEM) transplated motors, transmissons, & other various critical parts, is it still a Marauder?
After car-ful consideration the answer is yes! :argue:
Your opinion?

With the exception of the "wagon wheeled" Marauders, yes.

I'll agree with both of you.

But, I guess that's all I'll say.

Because the last time I gave my opinion on a pic of a Marauder on 24s (all jacked up) & outrageous paint job there were a few criticisms......:censor:

Are there any rules as to what you can call a car? I suppose if NASCAR can call those million-dollar tube-chassis fibreglass-body-with painted-on-headlights imitations "stock cars" then I suppose you can call any car anything you want.

I completely agree with the NASCAR comment above. (RF Overlord). What's that line from "Days of Thunder" - "...there's nothin' stock about a Stock Car...".
I personally think that cars should be modified only slightly (just to add your personal touch to it); but that's just me. I only change me cars slightly.
And that's the way...uh huh..uh huh..I likes 'em!

I'm gonna be the minority here.
If it looks like a Marauder of any configuration from a 2 dr drop top, to a pro fuel funny car, It's a Marauder!

I don't care if the guy slamed it so hard, you need to army crawl to get in .
Or if he put wagon wheels the size of earth Movers, It's a Marauder!
I wouldn't even balk one bit, if All I had to run it on was Bio-fuel :D

I would love to learn how that 11 second second Marauder Triple Threat has, on a stock rear suspension?

if you are one of the people that believe that changing an engine will make it not a Marauder then that is the dumbest thing I have heard
if that is the case there would be need to race them because they all run around 15.5 the point of this is to make them better by hook or by crook
imho

So if I put a Chevy crate 502 in the MM it's still a Marauder? I think what Bradley is wondering is at what point does the Marauder start to become a Mutt? Just because it says Marauder on the bumper is that all it takes to remain one?:dunno::)

Gotta agree with the Man's question, when does it become NOT a Marauder?.

FWIW, I've always been a traditionalist; iff'n it's a Ford vehicle, it should be Ford powered. That said, anything goes if it's a Blue Oval motor. Would LOVE to see somebody shoehorn a BBF engine into a Marauder chassis.

Same holds for clones. If it started out as a CV, it's still a CV, even if it's got a MM bumper cover on it.

Our cars have gotten to the age of being mistaken for a clone?? Its like I always say at local car shows, Every car here is a real SS, real 442, and a real GTO.

Nothing was worse then breaking the news to a guy who spent a small fortune on a 1965 Olds 442 that what he really bought was a badged F-85 Cutlass. Even the engine block wasn't year correct. :shake:

My Uncle has one and when we were out shopping for a real one, I had to learn the ins and outs of these cars because they are very common to clone.
Swapping the VIN, drivetrain and a bunch of badges won't help you make a real clone, the rear control arms are adjustable on the 65 442 and have holes in the frame so you can give the car a rake or lower it for traction, on the Cutlass they are not, unless you swap the frames, a clone can be figured out pretty quick if you know what you're looking at. Also 2 400ci engine blocks were used, a "A" block with 23 degree heads and the "B" block with 45 degree heads. Some factory freaks came with a 425ci which was slated for the 66 442 (I know too much about this car. :o)

Im thinking the VIN is the only thing that would seperate a real deal from a CV or GM clone. Maybe the rear airbag suspension would weed out some CV clones.

The set up in a car doesn't change what the car is. Yes, I am a hater of crossbreeding makes, but for some weird reason, only for the engine?? All other parts don't bother me. My true passion is 20's/30's street rods but the whole SB Chevy in the Fords thing is LAME.

A Marauder will always be a Marauder, just like a Mustang will always be a Mustang, no matter how many mods are done to it.

In my eyes... Yes! In a collectors eyes possibly not. I believe that's why leaving certain cars in stock form brings more money! I tell ya, if our MARAUDERs ever make it on the high collectors list, members like Gary/chapel1 who keeps 'em stock will be highly sought for with matching numbers and all! I don't know, just my 2 cents nuff said.
