I am new to this forum, and you guys provide a lot of insight.
I am current looking for a new vehicle to replace the POS Lincoln LS that I currently own; the repair bills have become absurd over the last month. I love the performance/luxury of the LS, but it's time to go!
I am currently undecided on my next vehicle but I do have a couple in mind: 2004 Marauder or 2005 CTS-V. The CTS just seems as if I would be walking into a problem which I am trying to get rid of; costly repairs. The Marauder's have turned my eye since they first came out, but hard to find in the local area.
I have been searching online and found:
http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=66608063&listingRecNum=2&criteria=sf1Dir%3DDESC%26mkId% 3D20074%26stkTyp%3DU%26mdId%3D 21449%26rd%3D100000%26crSrtFld s%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-yrId%26zc%3D48124%26rn%3D0%26P Mmt%3D1-1-0%26stkTypId%3D28881%26sf2Dir% 3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26yrId%3 D20143%26sf2Nm%3Dmiles%26rpp%3 D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=national
This seems like a clean car, low miles, and listed below blue book. I know there are many bolt-on's than can be added in the future, but what about the handling? Does it drive like a Grand Marquis?
Thought i would get some insight for all of you, as this will be my daily driver here in Detroit.

Welcome!
I always wanted a Lincoln LS, like an '06 sport V8..things are sweet. But the Marauder's handling versus a Grand Marquis..owning both, lets just say they are two different animals.
A stock Grand Marquis will float and have a bit of a wavvy feeling, plenty of lean on turns, seems to glide over the road. The Marauder has much more road feel, the steering is more precise, and can take curves nice and tightly with minimal body roll. It is quite the different experience.

Welcome to the machine!
The MM drives/rides different than the GM and CV's.
Tighter suspension and better handling characteristics.
Of course, we will tell you to get a MM as this is the site that has all the information needed to troubleshoot and mod.

The one you found is priced right. They don't handle as soft or mushy yet not harsh at all then a grand Marc. Motor and trans are good only minor things and most of them you can fix your self with all the help from here. The only thing bad about these cars is the tires where quicker then normal and are 150 a pop

That Silver Birch is clean!
Price may be a tad on the high side, but low miles make up for that. IMO
Go drive it, jot down the VIN and PM it to RoyLPita for him to run an Oasis report on it.
Offer them $15k and see what happens.

...The CTS just seems as if I would be walking into a problem which I am trying to get rid of; costly repairs....
As the other's have said, the Marauder and Marquis' (CV) are two different things.
But man, if you can turn a wrench; with help from all of us here when you have an issue; you can fix anything on this car yourself!
Just remember to turn here first with a problem. Stealerships are a last resorce!

Not hardly. I have rented a GM while on trips. Visually it gives you alot of the same cues from inside the car. The view from the driver's seat is nearly identical in many respects. But ..... on more than one occasion, I forgot that I was in a rental GM and nailed it or took a corner a bit frisky. The GM lets you know pretty quickly that it ain't no MM performance wise.

thanks for the words of encouragement guys.
i guess it wouldn't matter what color i found, just want something with lower miles; as i mentioned it will be a daily driver. i do like the silver birch though!
have you guys used a surveyor when looking for cars out of the local area, i really don't want to fly all over the country only to find something that's a pile.
what is the Oasis report?? similar to carfax??

Oasis is more detailed info. It show the build number. What repairs where done and when etc. When you find a mm check the group thread for people in that area to check it out for you
