Interesting (to me) LX Sport trivia side-bar ... Had a discussion with one of the initial marketing team for the LX Sport. He noted that this was the 1st LX Sport that he had ever actually seen that was privately ownered. They're VERY rare in MI. In fact the ONLY reason that the model/option was developed was to satisfy the CA FoMoCo dealers request for a model that would appeal to the younger / non-geezer demographics. Just one of the reasons that I LOVE attending SAAC MCR events - Rubbing-elbows with the people behind the vehicles.

Owner and wife are from FL and came from the Muskegon MI stop-over of the HotRod Power Tour. Every year they do a build and spend the summer touring car shows and events throughout the US. This year it's a 1955 F-100, Cobra drivetrained, resto' mod'.

At Carlisle this year they had a "Pinto Round-Up". I think it was the 40th anniversary of the Pinto. 25 of them drove 1,600 miles across country from Boulder, Colorado to take part in the anniversary festivities at the 2011 All Ford Nationals in Carlisle.

BTW -- I am liking the Edsel more and more every year at Carlisle too. :D

You say that like it's a bad thing. :D

And trust me ... The pro-street wasn't just looks. Owner never popped the hood but when it rolled-in I could smell racing fuel fumes and it sounded a heck of lot like an FE. Also had quite a lope.

The battery was mounted in the rear behind the RH wheel tub and the hold-down was a well-worn, wide leather western-style tooled belt with a vintage Pinto bucket as the catch.
