Here's a video of me driving on the highway with the 4:10's just installed on tuesday. I was playing around with the different speed/RPM combinations to find a sweet spot for highway cruising and think I've found a good highway speed for the RPM with fuel economy and engine life in mind. Maybe I'm being too particular, but was wondering if any of you do the same thing? If so, whats your usual highway cruising speed?

I go with the flow of traffic.

Depending on the road and conditions, will try to hold between 65 and 75 on four lane highways, that has me running between 2,200 and 2,500 rpms.

Being a 4V Cleveland guy I think turning 2653 RPM's seems to be the sweet spot at 78 MPH with my Marauder. Traveling to and from Carlisle averaged about just below 20 MPG. Not bad for a car fully loaded.

Best MPG was 21.3 and worse was 18.8.

Engine wear shouldn't be a problem since these engines go 250K or more without issue. That is a bunch of 2,000 mile trips for us!

I just ordered a 4:30 for my MM. I will compare to your video when installed.

Not that you won't like them, but most folks go with 4.10s. seems to be the best gear for our cars for general driving conditions.

You may want to PM Marauderman for some input; he had 4.30s in his car for a while and went back to 4.10s.

Let us know how you like them. Most Marauder that have 4.30's are primarily drag cars.

I know a few members that had 4.30's and were not happy driving around town and on trips. They have switched to 4.10.

I usually keep my cruise set at 7 - 8 mph over the speed limit.

5-9 over depending on what state I'm in. I hate getting pulled over, its embarrassing. :o I'm not usually in any rush anyway.

Well my MM have 38k miles and in the last 3 years i only made 9k with it. It's a toy for me, not a DD so i dont mind trying the 4:30 and since the 0-60ft is so crappy on my MM this helped me making that choice.
