I see the joke, but this doesn't completely humor me.

First off, Cocaine isn't Eric Clapton's song. Second, I really dislike seeing musicians age. I guess if one isn't a fan of older music they wouldn't understand, being if they never went to a show to see someone who is older. This coming month I might see Jerry Lee Lewis. I highly doubt he will be jumping around and setting a piano on fire like in 1958.

Third, the only "Rock Star" that "got older" that never seemed to age was Roy Orbison. His voice sounded just as good in 1987 as it did in 1964. Too bad he died so soon, yet being a life long smoker he proved you could still have a good voice with a smoking habit, if you took care of yourself. I cannot say the same for a ton of other musicians. When I went to see Joan Jett a few years back she played Bad Reputation in the key of A when it's really in C... and slower too. A big disappointment for me, almost walked out before the first chorus. Aging musicians is F-ing depressing.

Finally, I am more fond of the live fast die young attitude. You don't have to face aging especially if you went out on your prime. A few examples that come to mind are Little Richard, Nirvana, Sam Cooke, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran... all gone before they had time to slow down. Yes I know Little Richard quit.

That's just me.

Dom, this just in: We all get older, even rock stars. ;)

Being able to relate to that with a little humor is a good thing.

You can see Little Richard perform IN YOUR AREA as a matter of fact, he's doing a show.

What I am trying to say is he quit in his prime. Unfortunately, he is back to performing, but I don't think he wrote anything after 1958.

hahaha I looked him up and can't find a 2011 tour. :(

Actually he quit because his plane was going down while on tour. He said "Dead God, if you let me live I will quit this Rock N' Roll business." Or something like that. He lived, he quit. Then started performing again years later, never to get back on top.

Probably more truth to that statement than I realize.
