Alright I have a problem where my a/c blows cold for a while then blows normal air, probably from the outside because it's not hot. Not a big deal to me but my fiancee is sweating me fix it. I was going to try to recharge the system but the car has only 15,000 mile on it. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Do you hear the A/C compressor cycling on & off all the time?
Low on freon
Bad orifice tube
Clogged condenser

I just got back from Daytona beach for my b-day and I have to work sunup to sundown till friday. On saturday I will be making a drive to Ocala to see Landy. Then i will make some observations. it was hard to make any with the fiancee in the car bitchin about the heat and so on and so and so on. Thanks for chiming in so quick FBM. I'll be on it this weekend and will pm you right away. Landy and I are installing new gauges, Reische thermostat and flushing the system, adding water wetter also. We will pin point it and fix it with your help. Other than the cycling on and off what else can we look for?

I had a leaking shrader (may not be spelled correctly) on my low side line when I was having similar issues last year. Had both the high and low side valves replaced along with the orifice tube and accumulator for about $100.

Put a set of gauges on it to get the high side & low side pressures.

Levi, you know the problems I had at the picnic. Well, in the end it turned out to be the connector where the wire attaches at the top of the compressor. The SOB kept going on and off until it wouldn't work anymore. The part cost 64 bucks. Just so you know and might help you and Landy, there is a high pressure sensor that also failed and that sucker cost 160. All in all the connector was prolly the culprit that caused the sensor to go bad. BTW, I LOVE THE MATS. Thanks again!!

I haven't drove it recently. Supposed to have went to Landys this past weekend but we both had to work. hopefully this weekend will be better for us.

The compressor should come on, then run for a while. Once the inside temp is up to snuff the compressor will cycle on and off to maintain the temp. I doubt a car with 15k has a problem internally like an oriface tube/txv etc. A set of gauges would be helpful but look at the obvious stuff first. Feel the line going into the receiver drier, is it cold? Is there condensation dripping from it or beading on the outside? I would bet its low on 134 since it seems to have been sitting around unused based on your mileage. The a/c systems in most cars like to be cycled on and off every now and then, this keeps the seals wet and slows down the freon escape process. The schrader valves on 134 systems as mentioned above can leak, once again, this is usually from non use of the system. Don't put any hokus pokus sealers in there, simply check it with gauges, top off as necessary with 134, and make sure you run it more in the future. Regards, Richy
