Today was a very sad day for our family, we had to put our great dane down (Shakespheare) he was 12 years old (fawn) which is rare. even though we did the right thing,it was sad to go through with. we are thankful he lived a happy life with no health problem until the last couple of weeks, not being able to use his rear legs. Rest in peace Big boy.
thanks for taking the time to read this.

Boy can I relate.

Sorry to hear this. Nothing in dog world can compare to the love a Great Dane.

Hate to hear that, 12 years wow. That's longer than most people have human friends, can't imagine the emotions you are feeling. :(

Man, I feel for you, having gone through that myself.

The old saying goes, "a dog is man's best friend" and a person doesn't realize how true that saying is until you lose yours.

Grieve now, that's all you can do; but memories last a lifetime, and sometime down the road, those tears will change to warm smiles as you remember all the fun and love you shared with your big boy.

My thoughts go out to you.

My last dog was a Greatdane / Black Lab mix; so I too know the feeling of loss, when something so prominent in the home is just not there.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
As SC Cheesehead said, those tears will turn to happy smiles sometime down the road. There is no time stamp on it; but they will.
