And it is accurate, too. No false advertizing there. :D

I wonder if "VDOTBLWS" is available? Damn ..... too long. ;)

LMAO! Good one. Too bad I can't get "Widen I-64 from Hampton to Richmond" on a tag.

As much as it is needed (I have made that trip alot), it is unlikely to happen in our lifetime.

Saw an article recently that said Virginia Interstates cost $1.0 to $2.0 Million per lane mile. I-64 between Richmond and Hampton is 80.4 miles. Adding 1 lane for each eastbound and westbound track is a minimum of $160-320 Million. Paving the other 2 lanes each way adds another $80-160 Million. Costs do NOT include all of the overpasses that need to be widened to accomodate the widen travel area and access/egress ramps so add another $80-160 Million. Add 10% for design and engineering and 15% for project management.

Total minimum cost is $400 Million to a max of $800 Million. Likely cost is in the middle ..... say $600 Million. It took forty (40) years to get that much money approved for the Wilson Bridge Project. It's cost at completion was $1.2 Billion. I suspect this one will double too before it is done.

I will be 101 years old in 2051. Let me know how the road is then..... and whether it needs another 1 or 2 lanes to handle traffic growth over 40 years.

Whatever happens .... VDOT will be surprised when it does.

This rant brought to you by Citizens For Road Fixes now.

Now Back to your regularly schedule program on DMV and license plates.

I loved running US 60 to Hampton. Lots of ups and downs like a rollercoaster. US 301 to a lesser extent. I remember 'em all and I-64 ain't an improvement over US 60 (at the time) and if you have travelled I-95 between Washington, DC and Richmond you'd reconsider US 301 again as a decent option. I directed BigDogJim that way after MV8 and saved him a 1-2 hour delay near Fredericksburg on I-95.

I remembr when I-64 deadended near what is now Exit 205 at VA 33. There was a "Stuckey's" right there on US 60. Good times that was.

Yeah, make sure you put that one on, right after you get the blower installation finished.

Better yet: VHPSUX... ;)
