Have you noticed how many of us drive a lot of miles and just run a car until it's used up? There was another thread where one guy thought that 80k miles was a lot. My model is to maintain a car well and drive it until starts to cost me money to repair it.
I don't think that I've sold many cars for very much money. When I'm through with them there isn't much left.

Skp369 - After 35 years of police work I can't rember them all. But the first was a 1964 Plymouth with push button transmission with the lever mounted on the left side of the dashboard. The last was a 2000 CVPI and what a difference. PW,PB,PS, A/C, AM/FM stero radio, Cruise control, tilt wheel, tinted glass, power trunk release, strobe lights etc. We came a long way.

1968 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon (woody): 302 V8/auto...parent's hand-me-down. (ran pretty good for a tiny V8 in a HUGE car...sound familiar?)
1970 Volkswagon Beetle: 4 cyl/4spd. (very dependable transportation...but SLOW!)
1965 Ford Mustang GT 2+2 Fastback: 289 V8 4bbl/4spd. (hit & run: wrecked :mad2: :bigcry: )
1979 Ford Mustang Turbo: 2.3 4 cyl/4spd. (fun car, but a carburated turbo)

1984 Ford Mustang GT Turbo Convertible: 2.3 4 cyl/5spd. (bought it used, rare car...had to have a ragtop! still own it. Restoring it + adding 450hp Turbo 2.5 :D )
1988 Ford Turbo T-Bird: 2.3 4 cyl/5 spd. (basket case...parts car for the Mustang GT Turbo...parted it out and sold the hulk)
1996 Chevy S10 Blazer: 4.3 V6/auto (work vehicle...170,000 miles, engine and trans bulletproof but lots of squeeks and rattles!..still own it...trying to sell it)
2000 Nissan Pathfinder: 3.5 V6/auto (traded it in on the Marauder! ;) )
1965 Shelby 427 Cobra: 468 all aluminum V8 2x4bbl/5 spd. (built an ERA kit with my brother...god awful SCARY ride...gotta wear Depends when you punch it!)
2003 Mercury Marauder: V8/auto (LOVE THIS CAR!...driving this ranks second only to the 427 Cobra..and I don't have to wear Depends...YET! :D )
2005 Subaru Legacy GT Turbo: 2.5 4 cyl/auto (my new work vehicle...fast, fun and it handles/stops great...needed 4wd, but I'm sick of SUVs ride and lousy gas mileage)

In addition to the above I currently also own a 1972 unmarked black Plymouth Gran Fury, retired from the Virginia State Police with a blown engine at 44,000 miles. Have never restored it yet, guy building 440 engine died from antifreeze poisoning)My grandfather had an unmarked plymouth fury with a 440 magnum he said he got it up to 150mph

2000 Ford Expedition (Largest SUV to date for me)
2002 Isuzu Trooper Anniversary Edition (Expedition too big, last Trooper made)

2004 Mercury Marauder (woo hoo, back to performance!)*

What’s really amazing was how hard it was to remember, and how forgettable some of the cars were. Normally, we tried to have one “fun car” and one “family car” , for example Trooper and Mustang. Now the children are grown (sort of), we can both drive what we want daily.
