The Drunkest States in America (http://www.mainstreet.com/slideshow/lifestyle/drunkest-states-america)

1. New Hampshire: New Hampshire is a drinker’s paradise. It has the highest per capita sales of beer and spirits on our list, and it’s largely because of one reason: The state does not have a tax on its alcohol.

2. Nevada: No doubt Sin City plays a big role in Nevada's drinking habits. Yet even residents of towns outside of Las Vegas have plenty of reason to drink these days. Nevada has been hit harder than most states by the recession...

3. District of Columbia: People in D.C. (yes, we know it's not a state) clearly love their wine. The average person here purchases almost 40 bottles of vino each year, by far the most on our list.

4. Montana: Word has it that the youth of Montana are rowdy and reckless and love their booze. In 2007, one study found that nearly 20,000 studente in ninth through 12th grade were binge-drinking. On a lighter note, there are plenty of great breweries and festivals that take place in Montana, making this a haven for drinkers.

5. Wisconsin: It should be no surprise that Wisconsin is in the top five. This state traditionally ranks high on any list that involves alcohol. Milwaukee was ranked the number one drunkest city by Forbes in 2006.

6. North Dakota: What else is there to do in North Dakota besides drink? There are only so many times you can drive to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore. But if you do drink in North Dakota, don’t buy any pretzels. We hear that it’s illegal to drink alcohol and eat pretzels at the same time in any bar in that state.

7. Delaware: Delaware is responsible for one of the best craft brews out there, Dogfish Head. On top of that, the University of Delaware is the ultimate party school, thanks to its college football team and some crazy fraternities.

8. Wyoming: People in Wyoming start drinking early, and they drink hard. According to one study from this year, teens who drink in this state tend to ditch beer and go straight for the harder stuff.

9. Alaska: Let’s just say that when you live that far north, of course you’re going to need a couple gallons of hard alcohol each year to warm yourself.

10. Colorado: This year, nearly 50,000 people gathered in Denver for the Great American Beer Festival, the largest commercial beer competition in the world. Time Magazine declared Colorado the best place in the country to tour amazing breweries, dubbing it the “Napa of beer.” And, of course, who could forget about Coors, the Rocky Mountain beer?

Okay, so I know you're wondering...

Least Drunk State: Utah. Let’s just call it the designated driver state.

Kinda sucks that Wisconsin didn't make number one... :depress:

Hey! I resemble that remark!

I went to the U of Wyoming for two years in the early 80's when it was either the #1 or 2 party school in the Nation. U of Miami was the competition back then. We had drive up liquor stores(like at a bank) I don't remember a lot about my experience at U of Wyo so the fact they are on the list doesn't surprise me. Used to here about some fantastical but tragic one car accidents on I-80 out there.

The numbers for NH are skewed by the fact that since they have no state liquor tax, most of MA goes to the NH State Liquor Stores in Hooksett to load up. I bet if you separated out the MA purchasers, New Hamster would no longer be #1.

It's threads like this that get other clubs thinking we are alcoholics. Plus always going on some tour that involves alcohol consumption at at least one meet per year.

As far as the list on concerned, no remorse for Nevada. Vegas does nothing to help anyone. Just built on a city of greed and ruins peoples lives. I am glad they are suffering. The didn't build casinos on people winning.

Well if you just ain't a bundle of sunshine lately.... ;)

What other clubs are going to assume we are alcoholics from this thread?

It's threads like this that get other clubs thinking we are alcoholics. .Who cares what other clubs think? They don't have to lurk, if they don't like it. We choose what we want to read and tolerate, and a lot of other sites aren't worth my time. :bows: to the Moderators for their service. If anyone doesn't like it... See ya!

That's certainly a HUGE generalization... A man (or woman) can't enjoy a beer or two with some buddies? From what I can tell people have gotten very close through this site. And if they want to shoot the ***** over a beer. Than that's awesome. If you don't drink, that's your decision and making a blatant statement about alcoholics is a little rude considering that is a pretty touchy subject for some. Have some respect Dom.

Colorado does have some great brew tours, Rock bottom brewery, a damn good restaurant here has all their beer shown off to the public in while you're seated and a bunch of history about the restaurant/bar.

.

REALLY??? If any club is stupid enought o make that assumption off of a post like this than the only club they should be a member of is "The Backwards ass stupid moron club"

Do you really think we are the only club that enjoys a drink or too, or ice bucket or so, during a meet?

I've seen the multiple clubs partake of beer and it's like anything else in society, some can do it responsibly and some can't, but to make this generalization off of an innocent thread leads me to one of a couple possible solutions

"Reader may have been dropped on head as baby"
"Reader has no idea about the real world and therefore inserts their beliefs on limited information on society as a whole"
"Reader is RainMan and only knows Judge Wapner"

This is like someone reading select scriptures from the bible and then twisting the scripture to support their beliefs, like God hates Gays, or premarital sex is evil. Everything is open to intrepretation and if someone reads this and thinks we are alcoholics, then they are as stupid as the frickin import they drive.

On the other hand, I may drink a little much, so maybe I'm not a good authority

You should all be ashamed of yourselves and I agree wholeheartedly with Dom. You are all a bunch of 'falling down I can't get up' alcholics. I'm with Dom and I for one do not drink either and this site should ban alchol at all meets, we need to be responsible as adults and set an example to the younger car crowd.

How are the Front Desk agents in Milwaukee? I'm just asking.

And I digress, but perhaps my drinking has gotten a little out of hand, or bucket as it were.

The time may have come that I admit I have a drinking problem. the problem of having run out of captain. thankfully easily rectified and back on the high seas:beer:

You know what I'm thinking, we do both. Louisville at the regularly scheduled time, and Milwaukee maybe in July or August. All I know is I'm saving some vacation time next year to hit more meets, definitely want to do Marauderville next year, and I'm still trying to get it figured out to possible go this year
