so im going to get a tuner soon but wanted to know more about it i did some looking around but could not find what i wanted to know. so theres 3 custum tunes i can save on the tuner itself from my pc? also if i do other stuff after the tune lets say udp ewp exhaust or headers can i just retune with the tuner to compensate for the changes. also i have a k&n cai who ever i get the tune from does he ajust the tune for this. yes im a tuner noob may i flame my self :flamer:

Yes 3 tune slots. You want one for a crappy gas/low octane tune jic. UDPs just need idle rpm upped, which you can change yourself as an option range in most tunes. I would do the mods, then get the tunes/tuner and advice from a dyno shop. As for headers, O2 timing may need to be changed in the tune. CAI, etc. should really be compensated for by the PCM once it sees more air coming in, the PCM will tell the injecters to inject the correct amount of fuel.

ok so one tune file for 87 then another for 93 im guessing 93 would perform better hotter burn. but i did here from a birdie that to much 93 will burn valves?. also are you saying that a dyno shop is better then a tune or is it not worth the extra 300 for a dyno tune when installing headers for a tit tad bit more proformance

I suppose it's up to your budget. Canned tunes are on the safe side because they cover a wide range, yet, better than factory. Custom tunes at a shop will bring your car closer to what your engine can handle safely. As far as burning valves, no. if it's tuned by a pro, it will be safe for your car. I still have my original heads on a bench in the basement and valves are fine after running over 50 nitrous runs on them with a over 128k on the odometer, 93 octane.

Yup, you should be running AT LEAST 91 octane in your car unless it's been specifically de-tuned to run lower.
Like Jim said, I've run 93 octane exclusively in both my '04 and '03 without any issues.
