I thought 5.4's were DOHC???

Some were, but not the Lightning version:

2-valve
Introduced in 1997, the SOHC 2-valve 5.4 L has a cast iron engine block and aluminum cylinder heads. The 5.4 L features multi-port fuel injection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuel_injection), roller finger followers, fracture-split powder metal connecting rods, and in some applications a forged steel crankshaft.

1999–2004 Ford SVT Lightning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Lightning), 2-valve SOHC, Supercharged, 380 hp (283 kW) and 450 lb·ft (610 N·m) ratings for 2001 and later model years

4-Valve
In 1999, Ford introduced the DOHC 4-valve 5.4 L in the Lincoln Navigator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Navigator) under the InTech moniker, making it the second engine to use this name. Ford later used versions of the DOHC 4-valve 5.4 L in the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SVT_Cobra#2000_Co bra_R), the Ford GT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_GT) supercar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercar), and the Ford Shelby GT500 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Mustang#2007). The DOHC 4-valve 5.4 L is also used in the Ford Falcon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon_(Australia)) line in Australia under the Boss moniker.

The VIN indicates a p73.... Not a p71. Still cool no matter what.

Speedos can be added. Another part that you will never see from the factory on a CVPI is a keyless entry pad.

you guys are not giving that thing enough credit, its a sick ride and the owner went through several different applications till he found one that works. Its not just the engine but the work that went into the entire car, i wouldn't be so quick to say it's not worth it because you THINK its an ex police car. do a little more research on the car and you will see why the price is justifiable.

So the guy spent a lot of BS&T on modding his car, and that should make it (a model year 2000 with over 118K on the clock) automatically worth $16,500?

On second thought, maybe we ought to apply that same logic to all of our modded cars. I've spent alot of time and effort on my car, it's a 2003, it's supercharged, I've done a bunch of other things to it (exhaust, suspension, brakes, minor bling), the car only has 66K miles on it.

I should be able to sell it for around $25,000, right? After all, "if you do a little more research on the car and you will see why the price is justifiable"...

yea nevermind that he has a fully built rear end, custom tranny, and that the engine itself doesn't have 112k on it...but keep ASSuming! get over yourself man

you don't like it, thats on you, but you can't take anything away from the work that was put into that car. BTW he is not in a hurry to sell it either so if he gets that price good for him, if not, i dont think he will loose sleep over it

Nothing to get over my friend, and not ASSuming anything. It's a nice car, but he's gonna have a tough time getting $16.5 for it. You know that, and I know that.

Sorry I got your nose out of joint, carry on...

Probably right Landy, it looks like it was well sorted out so I can't say much about his asking price. I personally wouldn't want the hood to look like that, but to each his own...

It's not a x-police car. It's a base model Vic which the guy bought brand new. This was also built before mad max so it was the first Vic with a lightning motor and a 5 speed. Also pretty cool that it was in a magazine. Someone might be willing to pay a few extra bucks just to brag about that.

Oh and it's been up for sale quite a few times in the past with no takers.

hi guy new around here but I think is a sweet car. I wuold have opted for the 4v 5.4 and tried to keep it under the hood.
Whats the deal you all dont like the p71s? Its a better platform to start with than a base CV. 16k does sound kinda steep but theres alot done and I am sure he has twice that into it.
Who make a cat back exhaust for a Marauder?

Can't do it, that's one of the reasons the MM wasn't equipped with the 5.4 as OEM.

Actually, I was referring to the way he worded it... ;)

Same platform, obviously, and shared parts between the two, but a Crown Vic P71 or a Crown Vic LX Sport is not the same car as a Marauder (as I've often been told by others).

Doesnt the MM have a different frame and body is altered too? I remember reading something about the MM haveing different body mounts or mount loacations. Not sure I dont own one but i do have a CV P71 with a 32v in it. Dont want to make a MM clone nor will It look like a police car !!!!
And I said TRY to make it fit under the hood LOL!!!! If there is a will there is a way !

Same frame and body, different front and rear bumper covers.

Your post is a little confusing; are you saying you have a P71 that already has a 32V motor in it, or that you're trying to get info so that you can put the 32V motor into a CV?

bleedblue427
06-30-2011, 04:16 PM
Car has 32v in it running almost completed. have little things to button up still. finish exhaust, relocate battery, interoir, minor paint, air intake box and MAF. Been working on this for about 2 months. have a total investment of about 1g LOL.

bleedblue427
06-30-2011, 04:21 PM
I didnt know that. I ws alway under the impression that there were alot of differances between them other than motor. I know of the obvious like head lights and bumper covers and of course the 32v. Myself bing a merc man would someday love to have one parked next to my next 67 or 68 cougar but the cougar will come first. untill then i sm stuck with the next best thing a thunderbird and a CV LOL

Bleedblue, your 2000 Panther has a different frame design than the '03+ Panthers.
'03+ has bolt in front crossmember, and hydraformed frame. Also has a kind of strut in front, and rear shocks are relocated outside the rear frame rails.
It is the '03+ Panthers that are pretty similar but with differences.
If you need advice on making the hood fit, let me know.

Don't worry, there are still plenty of 03 Marauder parts that can fit on a 2000 CVPI :D
