so i seen lots of guys say if you remove the foam surround from the sub it will sound better? which one is it theres a big brown foam and then theres a thin black foam on top of the sub it self

yes the removable insert, dont take off your foam surround, it serves as a gasket

Ok thanks. I've looked at it but don't know why it would sound better. I guess I'll let y'all know after

so i waited all night to try this and find out someone allready did it. and still sounds like a small nothing oem sub would hate to know what it sounds like with the foam so i say doit. http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=29274&highlight=sub+foam

"a small nothing oem sub" is a pretty good description of the factory "sub"-woofer.
