I spoke with Captain MacEllroy (sp?) yesterday of the Doraville Police Department. He wants to join us for breakfast next Saturday in his Mercury Marauder Doraville Police Cruiser....pretty cool, eh? They actually have 4 in service.

We'll be the 1st to have actual pics of a Marauder being used on the streets as a police cruiser.

Just call me....

Soon to be clean of tickets, guy.

Just kidding...he was actually a GREAT guy and very enthusiastic. He asked "Have you guys taken the governor off?" I said, " "Just come to breakfast...we can hook you up with a LOT of goodies".

Todd they have 3 in South Florida and during my 3 weeks down there I saw them several times. All on I-95 with someone getting a ticket in front of them.

I met one of the officers in charge at a car meet in Davie (west of Fort Lauderdale). He was blown away by my supercharger. They are going to have all 3 at the Tower Shop's meet in Davie this Friday. If anyone is there please take a picture and post it.

Looking forward to seeing your photos Todd.

Best
John

would be eager to see a pic of one of these so that I can e-mail it to my brother who is on the local Police force over here where I live, since he seems to think that no PD's would decide to use Marauders since they don't come w/the special equipment needed. I said to him that I'm sure that Ford/Mercury would oblige any PD that was interested, but he didn't agree w/me on that, and sounded very skeptical when I told him how some members on this board stated that they have seen Marauder police cruisers in their homestates.
My brother also loves these cars, but he just isn't convinced that any PD's are buying them.

Believe it or not LEOs are people to. I have never been one but, I have family members that are and we still have fun and race and cut up. It would be a bit hard on them if they got caught and reported but, life goes on and at times is fun. I look forward to breakfast with the guy.

To answer some questions above^^^:

*No changes to the outside appearance.
*Just "Doraville Police" in small letters (magnetic decals) on the front doors
*Hidden lights all over it
*I told him to look in here and I'm sure he has already.
*I think he'll be REAL interested in a chip, dead pedal and the like.
*He was a GREAT guy and I'm looking forward to him joining us on a regular basis.

Well, I saw one yesterday in person. It was silver, and the only way to know from the outside was the three antenna's, one long whip on the trunk, and two smaller ones on the rear glass, along with the tag which says "Florida Highway Patrol", right on it. It had factory rims, and no markings whatsoever. I even tried to take a digital pic, but it was so late, the pic was waaayyy too dark, it did not come out at all. The lights are all strobes, along with a directional signal device, which was on the rear deck. The windows are dark tink, like all troopers.
I can't figure out though, this guy lives in a community of $800,000+ homes. I though troopers were amung the lowest paid state officers? Maybe rich wife!!
Wish those pics would of came out, maybe next time.

bye

Do you think the LEOs can use underdrive pullies on their MM cruisers. or, would they be useless with the extra power that the cruisers consume?

The center mounted stoplight seems split... either by a trunk-mounted antenna or because it was replaced by interior-mounted cherries. That, in combination with the LEO-like plates, seems to give it a police cruiser look indeed.
