i know some here like these trucks so ill keep posting until i here other wise

picked this old girl up today for 650 bucks. its a 78, supposedly 351,c6,205. the body is pretty damn rough but thats ok because its going to be a trail truck. it runs really well and the tranny atleast works in first lol. i only backed it on the trailer so i have no clue if it shifts. it has almost new 32x11.50s on it. the rear end is about shot, i can rotate the tires almost 1/4 turn before the drive shaft even thinks of wiggeling and when it does finally wiggle i can vissibly see up and down movement of the pinion. it didnt stop me from buying it as i have a good set of 3/4 tons that will find there way under it. oh its got the factory roll bar and GT wheel. the spare is the original spare from 78 so thats kinda cool. the back window dosent work and i cant get the tail gate open either but ill play with that soon. enough talk, heres the pics

yall know the tow rig by now

I have always wanted a nice 78-79 Bronco myself. They are the only two years for that type of Bronco making them sorta unique (kinda like a Marauder in a way). The nice ones now are super expensive and most of the rest are just worn out. Too bad some azzhat cut the two "sunroofs" in that one but still a nice piece for the money. Reminds me back when I was stationed in Mobile, AL back in the day the first one of those I saw was a brand new white 78 Bronco that belonged to Kenny Stabler. Good luck in your project(s).

Me too. '78 - '79 were my favorites as well.

Looking forward for progress updates, Dave.

I would love to get a hold of one of those '78-'79 Broncos. There's something about the first years of the full-size. Not to mention the body lines would go quite well with my project '74 F-100.

I guess I will have to keep my current Bronco work to my '95.

Some interesting stuff here. I bet most folks think the 80-96 Bronco is the the same as the 78-79 but they are totally different vehicles. Similar size on the outside but very different mechanicals.

I kinda like those "escape hatches"....if you roll it on it's side you can still obtain egress from the 'turtled truck'.

Paint it white, pull the rear bench for more hiding room, shove a set of Bruno Magli shoes under the front seat....and call it the 'OJ' signature edition!

i kinda like the moon roofs or what ever you wana call em too. id never add them but i dont mind them since they are there.

well im probably going to lift it up a bit, cut the fenders some since they are rusty any way and stuff 37s. quick blast of OD green paint and its off to the races errr trails
