That sucks man. Sorry to hear that.
If our power goes out. Which is almost never. Its usually no more than a minute. Funny how different areas are like that when they should not be. Thats bull crap.

I got tired of the same thing, a whole house generator solved the problem. Not the cheapest thing in the world, but cheaper than a lot of things we waste our money on.........

I have though of buying a house generator myself. But our power rarely goes out and its just for less than a minute at most. So I bought a generator instead. Used it once and well worth it.

It pricey but it runs off your gas line. So a few day with electric would be nothing.

Installed natural gas generator 4 years ago, well worth the price. Problem is neighbors want to plug in when weather gets bad. I charge them by the length of the extention cord. 50KW. Can run everything in the house and two neighbors houses. Was a gift from last employer, all executives got one. Burns less gas than the pool heater.

18KW Kohler with 200 amp transfer was only 5k, the wire and gas line is what killed me, well the wire was expensive, about another 2k for the parts and to install it and get permits etc... I also have a Honda EU6500I as a backup, just in case.
