View Full Version : How many tires have you fit in the trunk of your MM?

I'm picking up some 31x10.5x15 wheels and tires for the jeep after work; and since they're somewhat far from home and close to work, I'm wondering if I can fit them in the MM, and not drive home to get the heep out...
Anyone happen to have a tape measure and be close to their MM? I need to figure out how wide and deep it is, to try and figure out if I can fit 2 or maybe all 4 in the trunk... I'd rather avoid putting them on the back seat... I'd be curious what the length and depth and height is in the lower section... I do have my spare, so the shelf is all taken. I also have a trunk organizer with a bottle bracket in drilled thru it (thx previous owner :o), so I can't take that out without tools...
Thanks!

With the full size spare the most I could ever fit was two of the rear tires in. You'll never get 4 of those tires you're picking up in the trunk.

In my previous crown vic sport model, I got all 4 - 17"sport rims with 235/55/17 tires on them in my trunk standing up at a slight angle..full size spare was taken out..it barely fit..I would guess you'll get 2 of your jeep tires. take a drop cloths or some old towels and wrap them up and put 2 in the back seat(been there done that)

Darn... yeah, thought about it height wise, but I do think the 31s are a bit taller. Thanks for the heads up, at least I know to stop by a store first :)

Get a couple garbage bags and place 2 of them in the back seat.
It's all good as I too have "Been there. Done that"
;)

Yes, I know that front to back dimensions the 'well area' is a hair over 28 inches(just measured my marauder) so laying them down will not work for jeep tire.. height wise is about 26 to rubber seal then there is a little room onthe bottom side of trunk lid so 27ish inches is max. so you'll have to put 2 in and lean them to one side..are these new tires? if they are froma tire store they might have plastic tire bags there..when i put snows on my last car they put my cv sport rims and tires in clear bags and put them in the car for me..they put 3 inthe trunk and 1 inthe back seat.

With the full size spare, I have fit either 4 Bullitt wheels w/245/45-17 tires or 4 steelies w/225/60-16 tires.
I do not know the measurements of the MM trunk.

I wish they were new; but they're used, my jeep is a wheel rig mainly (nothing pretty, except the brand new mud tires on it now) but since I sold my excursion, it's gonna have to double as a winter beater. With those mud tires I figure it'll fling snow so bad that someone might want to shoot me, and I don't want them chewed up, so getting these street tires seems like the smart play.
I need to take some pictures of my tire storage... so far, 4 track wheels and tires from the mustang, 4 original wheels and tires from the jeep, 4 snow wheels and tires from my gf's old CTS, and until recently, 4 tires from my excursion - sold those though, and now will add the mud tires off the jeep. I could open up a tire store I think...

Have put 4 28x10" slicks in the trunk standing up, without the spare in there.

Put two full size tires and rims plus one MM donut spare and a NOS bottle and a bunch of other stuff. Had no trouble.

Ended up having the girlfriend come pick me up in the heep. I doubt I would have gotten more than 1 in the trunk... I guess 31s just look tiny on the jeep, but not when you try to fit them inside. I even had to put the seats down in the back of the jeep (cherokee) to fit them. Thanks everyone!

you mean you didnt use tie down straps to to keep the tires from faling out of your trunk and from falling off of the roof and trunk lid?

lmao, I actually thought of doing something like that with the jeep... but tying them on the inside - the tires were dangling around, and with the massive acceleration and braking force that thing is capable of, they kept banging against the rear hatch and the back of the rear seat (which thank god didn't fold all the way flat, otherwise they would have ended up in the front).
