I think we asked this before, but another member wanted to touch up on this subject.

I first drove a 1985 Dodge Diplomat when I was eight. I was driving around in a junkyard after hours.

First car on a public road was a 1995 chevy impala SS when I was 12. Passed a Mustang on the highway and went 80 on the first day. :burnout:

when i was 12, i would move my moms 2001 suburban around a lot so i could play basketball in my driveway.

when i was 14, i got to drive my dad's AM General Hummer. mainly off-road on trails, though i must say they are very easy to drive on the streets, hardest part is the width and narrowness of city lanes.

What car is a long time from when I learned to drive. I worked on my Uncle Rubs
ranch. First Tracker was a John Deer plowing fields to raise alfalfa and they a 48 Ford
ton and 1/2 back and forth from the field and barn about 2miles each way during bailing season, That happen twice a year. Uncle Rub would buy a new pick up every two years so my first PU was a 54 Ford, First car I owned was a 56 Pontiac Chiefton, had a lot of fun in the back seat of that car. First Hot Rod was a 50 Merc Rocket 88
Hydromatic. Red Great car. Thanks for the memories.

Dad's 1966 Ford pickup - 352 with a 3 on the tree.

Still remember pulling out onto the road (alone, but a rural dirt road) and going about 100 feet and meeting a local sheriff's car going the other way. I was maybe 12 at the time. He never stopped, and neither did I. :D

'75 Pontiac Firebird (with a '77 front end on it b/c dad wrecked it and liked the '77 better when he went to rebuild). Rebuilt 350/automatic. I was 6 years old, sitting on his lap and driving down the street.

First car I ever drove by myself was a 1982 Delta 88 around age 10.

I'm an old dude here .. 1957 Mercury 4 door sedan. I removed the 6 cylinder & dropped in a Thunderbird 292 4 barrel. Talk about a night mare, but the engine mounts were the same as well as the tranny mounts. I had a riot with my friends & some lovely young ladies.

Yeah I seem to know that member you mentioned--If I recall--he gave you a neat instrument to use which I believe was used in a unique sway to place a neat signature on MV VIII parking lot--Actually very cool--There is a pic somewhere-----another post-anyway----------------yeah that first car-

My father was a Chevy Dealer and lost his dealership in '58 and that was his last year as a dealer..After selling , he bought back his own used car lot. There he sold cars for a year to keep fed and bills paid for the six of us at home. I had always followed my Dad in the car business from my earliest years --prolly from age 5 as I remember-

Anyway--One Saturday , at his used car lot, he took me there and told Mom he would watch me--I was 10--the youngest of four----My Dad was 40 years older than me -- and he knew I had paid attention on how to do everything around the "garage"== that is what the dealership was called-- anyway--He needed someone to move his cars around =--his helper didn't show up that morning--he said folks will think there are new /different cars and want to come in to check them out--no one ever though of that back then--my Dad was really a head of his time--

So anyway -- He turned to me--10 -- and said-- grabbing those keys to the black '57 --can you move those cars move it to the back and put those in those other places in the previous places until they all have been moved over several position--You can do that --can't you?== I said oh yeah--

SO there I was --keys in hand--I found the '57 to be straight drive--place the seat up as far it would go=-=stretched and did it --I was fortunate to be a tall 10 yr old--

It was beautiful-- and I did all the moves that day--on a gravel lot--huge one--

At 12, it was my dad's 1959 Austin-Healey Sprite. What a fun car. I drove it on our property (we had horses) so there was lots of property.
When I got my driver license at 17, it was a '57 Buick Roadmaster convertible. My first car ( I purchased) was a 1960 Austin Healey 3000. My first new car was my (still have it) 1970 Boss 302.

Age: 17. Paid $100

We are dating ourselves here :D I remember being able to lay down $75-$100 for a car you could put right on the road and passed NYS safety inspection. Since if you wanted to drive in our house, you paid for it, I had several of those $75-$100 cars. 64 Falcon I already mentioned, 66 (?) Chevy Corvair, 65 Falcon and a 68 Galaxy 500, 390 HiPo with gears, what a sleeper.

A bone-stock `82 Ford Fairmont, silver with red stripe along the sides and big chrome front and back bumpers! It was our family car, given to me by my parents when they bought their `92 Crown Vic.

Fully-loaded with inline 6, 4 doors with sunroof. Had to swap out the engine after I had it for a year

It was a terrific ride to get through high school, with copious room in the back seat and a sizable trunk for two 12's, a battery, a cap, and three amps!

You always have a soft spot in your heart for your first car...

1974 Toyota Landcruiser 4spd. when I was 11. Never got her out of 2nd gear as I was delivering newspapers in our neighborhood. Some of my fathers friends scolded me(while laughing their azz off about what would happen to me if my father found out!), but waited to tell him until I was in college:) Needless to say we had some very cool neighbors.
