I know it is a 427 car but come on 10g's for that @least it came with a incorrect 427

I'd rather spend 2Xs as much and get something good than pour time, money and effort into something as bad as that. No offense to those of you have resurrected the 'dead', but this 'puppy' needs to be sold for maybe $3Gs.

I think the point is that it's an extremely rare example of an already rare car.
If it had the correct 427 complete, I might jump on it, but alas...... :(

That'd be real hard to do, all 427s were center oilers till '65...

But as stated, it's a ultra rare car defiantly should be saved... In 45 years of running the streets and hanging out at the drag strip, I can only remember seeing a hand full of real 427 Marauders...

+1!

Very rare car with a dual quad 427!....:bows:

That could be restored with any number of aftermarket 427 side oiler blocks that are now available.
If I bought it, I'd put all the NOS/OEM engine parts in a storage crate and build a big honkin' 500+ cid aluminum FE and run that heck out of it.

All the parts needed to restore this car are available, though many of them are not cheap. This car, in restored condition, would be in the $70k-$90k range right now. Prices are down a bit. Highest price I've ever seen paid for a 427 Marauder in a public auction was $113k. There are only 14 of them documented to still exist, though I'm sure there are more yet to be found.

For sure. 427 Galaxies are hard to come by, but as you noted, a 427 MM is real rare.

That must have been a kick a$$ car when it was new...

This is an outstanding vehicle. A valuable piece of Mercury Heritage. This car can be easily restored by an experienced team or person. While it is handicapped by not having many of the original parts, the current owner has collected some great pieces to complete it. This car may cost as much as $50k to restore to market value of $75-85k. Mercury is a tough segment but the true Mercury enthusiast will embrace this car. I have only seen one similar car but I doubt if you search you will find another. Dam sure won't park next to another at the car show!

Not so fast. Check pictures 4 & 5 here http://homepages.wmich.edu/~dillery/3Z68R529446.html My 406 car and a 427 car in a Ford show in Ann Arbor, MI. Now I have to admit that these pictures were taken over 20 years ago, but I'm hoping for a similar repeat at Carlisle next summer. But it is certainly a VERY RARE occurance.
