Are there any current or retired Law Enforcement Officers out there? I've been a Police Officer for over 16 years in a mid-size city in the miwest. I have driven everything from a K-car police package to Dodge Vans on patrol. I currently drive an 01 Ford but nothing compares to my own Marauder that I finally picked up a couple weeks ago. If you're in Law Enforcement and into Marauders, I like to hear from you. And if you're not, being a new member here I'd like to take this chance to say hello.

I was a ranking officer for 35 years in the NYPD. Out of all the vehicles I have driven the Ford CVPI and the Chev Caprice were my favorites. My three sons are Police Officers in the NYPD. Hello and welcome aboard.

I will have to agree with you, the CVPI and the Caprice have been the best police cars so far.

Hello Skp369. I am LEO in Maryland. I agree on Crown Vic and Caprice. I think one of the biggest mistakes Chevy made was getting rid of RWD police cars. I have a caprice now with 135,000 miles plus on it. It does not compare to the Crown Vics we have in our fleet with like milage. Wish I still had my 01 CVPI!! The price you pay when you go to the administrative side of the house. Welcome aboard!

The weather actually broke for a couple days and allowed me to drive the Marauder to work. There was many a cop salivating over my new car!
We recently received some 03 CVPI. What a big improvement over the previous generation but it is NOT a Marauder.
When I first started in the mid to late 80's, we had 84 K-cars, 85 Impala's, and 87 Caprice's. Within the next couple of years I had the misery of driving Gran Furys and before we went back and forth between full size Ford and Chevy Cars. This is my list from best to worst of the Police Cars I have had experience with over the years:
1.) 94-96 Caprice (5.7 Lt1)
2.) 03- CVPI (4.6 sohc)
3.) 92-02 CVPI (4.6 sohc)
4.) 91-93 Caprice (5.7 LO5)
5.) 85-90 Caprice/Impala (5.7 LO5)
6.) 00- Impala (3.8 V-6)
7.) 85-91 Crown Vic (5.8 2bb)
8.) ANY Chyrsler Product made after 1980!
