YES!! YES!! YES!! I think I need to change my undies now!! That there is a beauty.

I wonder if anyone has taken a supercharged mod motor and installed it in one of those?

I love Panteras but the way I read the write-up, the seller doesnt exactly say this car was a Group 4 car, just something about the same configuration. If this car has a racing history he should say so clearly. Otherwise, somebody might just be buying an expensive rusty Pantera with an oddball, ugly bodykit installed. For this kind of money you can find a pretty nice one; the less "modded" the better.

This one is close enough in price:

I own a 1972 Pantera Pre-L It uses a Boss 351 Cleveland engine...

Most Pantera's are not group 4, GTs, etc from the factory but have been modified to be as such...

SHould anyone have any questions abouyt these vehicles I am a great resource to ask... I am also a member of POCA (Pantera's Owner's Club of America)

I had my Detomaso designed 01 Qvale Mangusta at carlisle this past year... For those whom were able to attend...

Mod motor's have been installed in the pantera... But most which have mod motor have been completely redone with an Amerisport body redo...

Some have the stock body but due to the valve cover width modification must but done to ensure proper fit...
ALmost all as 4.6L > almost no 5.4L

427 Pantera

as long as you done have a 1971 Pantera (push bottun door) model you can bolt a 427 right up to the ZF tansaxle. The post 71 Pantera's used the ZF dash2 transaxle... which was stronger...

The dash 1 transaxle used in the 1971 Pantera's was a carry over from the 1968-69 Detomaso Mangusta's which used the Boss 302 motor... so the ZF was only the DASH1 model... However it can be upgraded...

RBT even has a rebuild to convert the ZF 5 speed into a 6 Speed.

I'm not going to 427 in mine... but I'm rebuilding the cleveland motor in a BIG way...
I am a luck owner of a 1 of 10 all Aluminium true 351 cleveland blocks being made as I type.
I also have been having a custom set of heads built for the 351 Cleveland... You can read more about the 4 valve per cylinder all AL heads currently being built on the company's website:
http://www.araoengineering.com/Ford/clevelnd.htm

I have also linked a pic the custom cross-ram intake I have built in Australia below: Since this pic I have had the intake completely polished to a shine...

I am going to use a F.A.S.T. fuel injection system with this intake thus making the engine direct port injection...
I am expect around 600+RWHP given the flow test numbers on the heads etc...

that Pantera has been mod'd to be a GT5-S they were never imported into America... Unless by the private owner... but would need to be made emissions legal..

They body style has the best downforce for racing & is the final version of the old school body style...

Detomaso did however make the Pantera until 96. They used the 5.0L in later years... but the Detomaso designed Qvale Mangusta was gonna be the next step & utilize the SVT cobra 4.6L dohc

One of the only cars I know of where when detailing the car, you have to give attention to the transmission as well! I love these cars!

I remember being with my Dad at North Park L-M in San Antonio back in the day and there was a brandy new 73 Pantera GTS on the showroom floor in that god-awful lime green for $13.5 (which sounds like nothing now but that would buy you a small house back then.) They were sold thru L-M dealers who probably didnt know/care about em.

I remember seeing in one of the Ford enthusiast magazines a Pantera fitted with a SOHC 427 motor that was built by "Dyno" Don Nicholson. That was pretty insane.

My father & I considered doing up a 427 SOHC "Cammer" for our Pantera but ended up using the Cammer motor In a 1965 AC Shelby Cobra. (all Aluminium) Using new shelby block w/ oil booss's drilled. Heads are old drag racer "Platt's" Aluminium race heads... They have his name stamped into the back of them... Never felt so much pull from an N/A car...
Pic of motor being pulled from the car during an engine project...

There's a guy who brings a red Pantera to the Hackettstown NJ cruise nite occasionally. Don't suppose it's you?
