Asphalt question

I might have damaged a parking lot while doing a burnout. How do I fix this? Can I heat it up and stamp it out? I will check out the "damage" today, most likely nothing will happen and someone is trying to scam me believe it or not.

I did a five second burnout. I bet I left nothing more than rubber and did no damage. I will check and post later today if need be.

I've had to repair the parking lot at work. Lowes sells cold patch make by QPR that works great. (50/lb. bag)

On a hot day, just spread some on the area and tamp it down with a hand tamper.

The stuff is kinda pricey at $15.00/bag

A guy did a burnout in his mustang on the new asphalt at work and didn't damage it at all, so I'm thinking you shouldn't have damaged anything.

Tell the person that is trying to scam you to meet you at the parking lot and do a burnout on his face.

What Charlie said. Damaged junk or damaged unsightly. I understand if they just resealcoated it and you marked it up. I try to find ones that really need to be redone, it keeps it off the street atleast for the good burnouts. Maybe show good faith and offer to touch up the marks with a bucket of seal coat? Maybe just an appology is all they want? Good luck, what you did is exactly what most off us have done sometime or another and all of us that have run the very same risk.

Our local meets have been moved several times because of this. We usually call the cops on anyone doing a burnout during our car meets.

If private owned lot talk to the owner, he may have witnesses, OR don't return at all! If the owner is tring to stick you up have your Insurance Company look into the matter, thats whats it for to protect you. Even if it's poorly done you damaged private property with what is considered in some states "RECKLESS DRIVING".

I dont think you damaged it that much if at all. I have done asphalt sealing and repair for 3 years. Post a picture and I will tell you if its damaged at all, If all you did was leave rubber marks then they will wear away and they truly are trying to scam you.

Since you live in Chicago, why not look at it first hand? Dom can PM you the location and show you the area, thats better than a picture.

I'd be real suprised if you did any damage, their definition of damage is probably just the tire marks. Does this person know you aside from your display? It's probably just cosmetic, if they don't know you, I'd question how they found you and blow it off. If they do know you, and it sounds like you want to do the right thing, so getting the stuff that was suggested at $15 a bag will probably do the trick

Alright I went back to the place to check out what had happened. Not only did I go back, but SergntMac came with! I called him before I went over...

"Hello Mac."

"Yeah Dom the weather is (crap) today, don't worry about stopping by."

"Hey I am going to 157th anyway if you wanna grab a bite."

"What happened?"

I explained

"Come pick me up Dom, we're going to get to the bottom of this!"

So we stopped by and the landlord wasn't there. I looked at the parking lot and noticed a lot of skid marks, at first it was hard to tell which one was mine, but I found it. I mentioned that there are so many I couldn't tell which one I did. The man who owned the speed shop came out (NOT the landlord btw) and pointed mine out.

It looks just like a small pile of rubber the size of a half dollar. I could chisel it out with a hammer in 30 seconds. There is no damage to the parking lot at all, just my rubber that's stuck to the ground.

I told the owner of the speed shop, if the landlord calls me he won't see a dime, I'll do it myself. I took pictures of all the skid marks to show it's hard to determine whats mine.

The landlord hasn't contacted me at all, but I was told has my number. I was told I could call him and say who I was. I told them "That's okay. I'll wait for his call, it's already been a day and nothing."

So that's it. I stopped in, saw my rubber took pictures and left.

I owe the guy nothing. There is no damage. He wanted the whole parking lot repaved. Yeah oooooookay. Not on my dollar.
