I was looking at Griot's Garage (www.griotsgarage.com;1800-345-5789) catalogue and noticed a variety of valve stem caps. I called them and asked for a godshead style. He called his supplier and reported to me that it would cost 36.95/set of 4 caps (P/N 925900 Pilfer-Resistant Valve Stem Caps) plus $50.00 one-time setup charge for an order of 50 sets (4 valves/set).

Anyone interested in pursuing this (unless someone has done this already)?

I don't have the time to arrange this deal but am willing to buy two sets.

John:

I had thought about this a while back when Mac 'N Marty Enterprises were in full swing. In fact, I have a set on my desk at home, but without the final God's Head inserted.

The financial commitment for this was pretty big, but the guy I spoke to (like aspirin, they all come from the same place), said he would do a much smaller run than 50 sets. I am willing to pursue this, but Mac 'N Marty Enterprises is teetering on bankruptcy due to certain bad debt and we would only be willing to do "advance sales" or, as we say in my business, the terms would have to be CBD (cash before delivery).

I'm glad to hear that a number of people are interested.

1. At least I 've found a better potential source for this item. The current potential source from Martyo's source seems to be less reliable at this time.

2. We need someone willing to make this transaction. Here are the steps:
-It will take someone to get a good photo of the godshead. (It doesn't have to be that good since it will be shrunk to a very small size on the valve stem cap.)
-I'm not sure about the upfront money if any. 50 sets x 36.95= $1847.50 plus $50.00
-Need a proof valve stem cap (have a sample made for approval) before the 50 sets are made to make sure of the quality. (If you look at the catalogue, maybe the wesite too, the sample brands of caps look very good. Griot is a very upscale catalogue)

I'l try to get Griot's Garage to offer them with no commitment of money.

If I can't, I 'd be willing spend up to $50/set for two sets and buy them from somone willing on this website to sell them. I don't have the time to do this.

Is there anyone willing to go into business of making the deal and stocking them?

John: I think you missed my off handed attempt at humor here. Mac 'N Marty Enterprises is me and Mac from this site. We have done a number of these things for the site and they have generally been at a loss. Plus, I am a bankruptcy attorney by trade. So, the reference to Mac 'N Marty Enterprises being near bankruptcy....

Oh, never mind, the men in the white coats are back to take me for my afternoon walk.....

So we can now say that Griot's Garage is the only ptential source for these godshead valve stem caps.

See Mac, that's the difference between a seasoned Police Sargeant and an attorney. You are worried about the list and I am worried about the money. What a team.

More to the point, I can cull a list from this thread when and if there is enough interest. Then there will be handling the list, the pre-payments, the ordering, the quality control, the order fulfillment, and the shipping.....Man, a need another nap.

I am going to Court now, it is much less stressful there....

I have been able to talk to a well respected vendor on this site, Wes Chain, about getting the God's Head Valve Stem Caps produced.

I put Wes directly in touch with the manufacturer of the valve stem caps rather than going with Griot's who would no doubt want a piece of the action and thereby drive up the price significantly .

Wes has agreed to take charge of accepting orders for the caps, collecting the money for them (understandably, pre-payment will be required), placing the order with the manufacturer, and then handling the fulfillment of the member's orders. Nice, eh?

Keep an eye on Wes's forum on this site as he will be putting up a thread with pricing and ordering instructions.

Let me be the first to say "Thanks Wes!!"

The link I reported is the only one I have. You can probably see what a typical valve stem cap looks like, but godshead caps have to be specially made.

Thanks for the valve stem cap illustration, martyo.

Did you electronically produce the cap in the photo on your tire?

Actually, that was a mock up by another member here, but it is very close to what will be sold by Wes, so I "borrowed" the other user's picture.

OK, I admit to no knowledge in this area. How do you make valvestem caps "pilfer-resistant"? I know I could do it with mine by using a pair of pliers and cinching them on real tight, but how are the caps under discussion here made pilfer-resistant? I need enlightenment.
Thanks.

There is a seprate "locking mechanisim" that is employed here, Its not completely theft resistant, if you really want them, they are "stealable" but it makes it harder for the 10 year old kid down the street to put it on his 10 speed. When you install these, once the key is removed, the caps just spin free until the correct key is used to unlock the cap.

BTW, We are almost there, 1 order to go before we can do the order.

Just Thought I'd bump this thread up, this is probably the last time these will be available to us, since Ford is getting funny about their Logos and licensing....See my other post in the Innovative Forum about the Valve caps.
