That's pretty wild. C5R!! Thosed were used also in the 2002 ZL-1 Camaros that had 600hp with no power adder.

But are there performance parts available for the 460? Or would one have to spend even more $$$ to make the kind of crazy power a LS motor or in this case a C5R engine that almost all the same performance parts available for the LS motor bolt right on to the C5R?

I'm guess that is the reason for the change to the GM Performance motors. Small block 427 C5R. Can't go wrong.

Locally I saw a 86 Fiero GT with a body kit and a Corvette Z06 LS7 under the rear hood complete with dry sump, C6 brakes, and the 6 speed. I also saw a few weeks ago a 97 Mustang V6, powered by a 1987 Grand national V-6.

Pretty wild rides out there.

Probably cheaper. Plus the car looks a few years old. They might have bought a Stang with a blown engine and threw the Chevy engine in.

For those unfamiliar with the 460, it's a crude, thirsty, brute of an engine, that matched diesel torque numbers of the time. Agreed, they are easy to build into monsters, it's harder to find a trans that will put up with them for an extended period. I've owned several and they're fun to romp on.

As for the Vette motor in a Mustang.... that's weird and a little wrong.

Because a bbf belongs in a musem! the Ls series motors are far superior< and will make far more hp to any ford big block

You're a skilled mechanic man, I know you know better than to think an LS engine is ****. I understand not liking Chevy vehicles, but the LS engine is the ONE thing that has to be given credit if nothing else, no matter what your affiliation.

For those unfamiliar with the 460, it's a crude, thirsty, brute of an engine,

Buddy of mine had a '78 Grand Marquis for a while with a 460 (2V I believe?). With all the emissions crap, it made **** for power, but damn if it didn't heavily rock the car every time he laid into it.

I wouldn't put a Ford engine in a Chev or vice versa.

But, many resto/rodders of old Fords do put in Chev small blocks rather than Fords.

This is what hot rodding is all about. Why should we limit ourselve to an underpowered, oversize 4v engine when there are other, more powerful and lighter engines available. A 6 liter LS in a Marauder would be bad @zz.

This marauder has a BBC in it, it's not what i would do but then again it's not my car:

I guess it is the Fastest Marauder but I think that recognition should be given to a Modular powered Marauder.

Yep,
460 are beasts with a good set of cylinder heads. (Kaase, SVT CJ, Edelbrock or Blue Thunder)
They have the reputation of being a "truck" motor because the OEM cylinder heads sucked.
Tons of low end torque, but they didn't have much in the higher rpms.

As for the Chevy engine in a Mustang;
To me it's like the guys who pull the turbo V6 out of a GN and drop in a Chevy smallblock....:dunno:....I just don't get it.

The difference is that when replacing a mod motor with an LS it's an upgrade in power potential; more cubes and lighter.

that GN motor is plenty capable of making intense power though. :P

The ONLY reason I could see doing it is for the fact that those mills (and conversely, parts for them) are far from being abundant...

Replacing a GN motor makes no sense to me, but replacing a mod motor does.

I like the LS engines, small package, easy to work on and mod, over 400rwhp with just cam...their advantages are many. I often wonder why I keep messing with these engines.

For example. The stang had full bolt ons full exhaust and 4.10 gears, 5-speed . Best it did was 13.5 @ 102. On 80* weather.
The f-body with full exhaust, lid and 3.73 did 12.6 @ 110. On the same weather.
I love my Fords but the fact that with less than 5-grand I can make the ls faster the my mm makes me sad. But I will never sell it.

Exact same thing could be said for a pushrod Windsor.
Drop a crank and a good set of heads on a 351W and you've got a 408/427W that puts oot 500+ HP without breathing hard or spending a ton of money.

I've thought about doing that to my Marauder!
