Just wondering did it help with the sound or a waste of time.

I went with 4 way pioneers that I won at MV5. They do sound a lot better then stock, just a small amp may make them even better.

You get any type of bass put of them?

I had my speakers changed out to JBL's and installed a JBL 4 channel amp and it still doesn't fit my liking. Just wondering if it's worth it to install 6x9's and put them on the AMP of course. I also have a JL sub I replaced the factory sub with

Not really, If I really crank them up they start to distort, they are mostly midrange. The upgraded subwoofer puts out most of the bass

I put Infinity Kappa 6X9s in the back deck, definitely improved sound.
Tried them in the front doors, not without more modding than I am willing to do.
I put the 5X7 Kappas in the doors, they sound amazing.
I bought an amp and the 8" upgrade sub from "Pops".
The sub I think can be made to sound fine with the speaker upgrade and then adding a real amp to it.
The sub amp is next for me.

After I get done with my latest under the hood mods :coolman:

Do a search there is a lot of info on it. Basically you have to trim a little sheet metal on the deck and you have to be careful of clearance with the hinge springs.

I guess I was asking about more midrange type bass. The sub doesn't do it for me. I have a bazooka 10" but don't want all that

Midrange is improved for sure. I had a great set of Pioneer 4X7 back there before and there was a distinct improvement when I went to the 6X9s and the Infinities are a little light in the lows but the mids are solid.
I don't really listen to the DEEP bass the 20 somethings that work for me do but there is definitely a plus to a good sub with some of the metal I am prone to listen to from time to time.
NIN etc.

Oh ok. In my older cars I'd install 4 pioneer 6x9's in the hatrack with a amp and loved it. Not cutting the MM like that.

I installed a set of JL audio c2 690tx 6x9s and there was a huge improvement! (no cutting needed) much more bass, and mid range, i have boston acoustics 5x7 sl-80 plate speakers on the doors, and all four speakers pushed by a JL audio 400/4 amplifier

6X9's are at least twice as good as 6X8's for midrange bass, amplified they are in a different sound range all together. I would highly recommend them if your not afraid to cut the rear dash a little.

@jbeezy I sure remember putting 4 speakers in the rear deck, you guys remember the 8" three ways from Pioneer? The 207's they were bad ace with an amp, very loud.

Last question. JBL OR PIONEER 4 way 6x9's?

I'm going after lunch to have them professionally installed.

I also have a little rattling in the rear deck. Any ideas?

Either would be fine, are you going to add a amp to them? Dynamat works great on the rear deck. Or polyfil if it is the deck on the cover.

I already have a JBL 4 channel amp. Just going to swap in the 6x9's. Hope I'm pleased with this

Infinities don't sound like they should without an amp.

Installed some JBL 6x9's. I love it. Waay more sound and bass than I expected. I'm pleased.

Btw. I don't know if this is true but a guy at the stereo shop made statement that JBL now owns or merged with infinity. How true this is idk

Nice. Well I must admit I was torn between the JBL's and the 4-way pioneers. The guy said just try them first. I didn't even try the pioneers. I was happy with the JBL's.
