I had a shop 100% screw up my timing chain kit install! :shake:
They gave it back to me with an engine light on, the engine shakes and feels like its running on 3 cylinders.
There was ZERO problem with it before except a timing chain noise. Driveability was perfect. Anyhow THEY are saying the timing chain guides were so bad that I drove it too long and this is what happened.
They are full of crap of course. They offered to put in a new engine for $600 MORE on top of the $650 I already paid them. Thing is the IDIOT mechanic that screwed my engine would also be doing the engine swap. I dont think so.

So Im wondering I need a GOOD and reliable AND low priced mechanic. I dont have much money left to put into her. Its a 2004 Marquis with 200K on the engine.
I need help folks :(

$1250 for a new engine?

If your already at 200k i'd take that :P

They are usually warrantied so even if he f'd it up again it should be covered.

Low priced mechanics are not always a good thing. Maybe go to chicagosvt and PM Zack for quality work.

I had that happen once when I owned a Galant, or at least something similar:

Shop hadn't timed on of the camshafts right, think it was passenger side. Car ran, but kinda rough and sounded MEAN (this is how I knew things couldn't possibly be right).

Either the mechanic was a clueless moron, or he just never fired it up to make sure the work was done right, so essentially was still a moron. Haven't been back to that shop.

I had someone PM me and said I should ask around here regarding mechanics because I guess there are more people from Chi-town in this forum.

In any case I really appreciate everyones input! :bows:
I contacted Zack via PM and Im just waiting back to hear from him.
Im praying he can help out somehow.

The Cadillac Standing joke .. On the pre 2003 North Star engines with a 100thousand miles - The tuneup requirement is to replace the motor. {Thats why there are so many Cadillacs for Sale at public auction aka headgaskets and seal leaks }
