what is the purpose of upgrading from 80mm to 90mm? is there an increase in hp/tq? more responsiveness?

Only if you have more airflow than an 80mm can take, like with supercharging. It doesn't matter what you do to an NA Rauder engine, you'll never come close to pegging it. With sc'ing, you can even peg a 90mm and that's why there's even bigger like an SCT BA3000. The diameter is for more airflow, the actual sensor is mapped to the diameter and what it can flow. You can use an 80mm with a sc and fake it out with a MAFia too.

so there is zero benefit of having an upgraded MAF with a NA maraud?

You are 100% correct. You can test to see if opening up any part of your intake system would be beneficial by hooking up a vacuum gauge. If you see zero on the gauge @ wot, you have zero restriction for the engine's demands. If you were to still see slight vacuum @ WOT, then, you might look at what could be causing a restriction. I upgraded all my components knowing all along I would sc my Marauder in the end.

I've got a 90mm and still needed a MAFia with the D1SC

Same here with the T kit.
