so i was cruzing CL like i usually do and i came across this truck and had to go check it out. its a 97 f250 with a KP d60 up front, 460 auto. 140k its on 37s but i think ill lower it down to 35s, a bit big for my taste ( i know ill get **** for that). main reason i wana lower it down is because it has stacked blocks in the back which is fail.

it has some rust but isnt too bad. the drivers side rear window wont go up the last 3 inches, any ideas? ive never messed with power window stuff.

heres a few pics

Invite Barry for a ride. That is if you can tear him away from his electric, solar, bio powered 1 banger.

460 heh???

If you're gonna feed that big block beast you might as well make it really move...

http://www.jonkaaseracingengines.com/component/content/article/40-kaase-products/188-kaase-p-51-cylinder-heads.html

From Jon Kaase's website:

" On 91 octane, Kaase's P51-equipped 460 showed us 597 lb-ft at 4,900 rpm, running up the powerband to 687 hp at 6,700 rpm.
We had a basic short-block that could easily double for the one in a buddy's truck (stock block, crank, rods, and all).
Take that basic genetic material, add a hard-hitting COMP roller cam, a Kaase top end, and a matching big induction, and you have a combination that makes way more power than the sum of its parts."

almost 700 HP and 6700 rpm on a stock block 460!.....:bows:

Just sayin' so ya know......:D

Oh yea! Had a 97 F-350 CC diesel in Black best truck I ever owned. As for that window Dave the cable on the regulator is probably all binded up or broke. New regulators arent to bad in price and fairly easy to repl

Perfect truck for a diesel. BTW Dave it looks sharp for its age.

Nice!

Take the door panel off and check the regulator. May need lube and/or adjustment.

yup, 99 they went to the superdutys, there was no real 98 f250, only the half tons they "upgraded". im not sure how it played out exactly as i was only 9 in 98 lol

shoulda never sold it Todd, these trucks hold there value like crazy if they are nice, especialy the diesels. i pulled the door panel, ill have to investergate tomorrow, ive never really played with a power window, ive never really had a promlem with one

i didnt want a diesel Landy. if it had been diesel i would have bought it but i prefer the gassers. and ill have my cummins up and running some time in the next decade so ill have a diesel then lol

Very nice! Sometimes the window issue is as simple as plastic gear plugs (http://www.bigmercury.com/bigmercury_technical.htm#pwrep air) and can be repaired for under $3 and some time to R&R. Follow link to the repair I did on on an '88 Ford pickup.

Cable in regulator almost for sure.

Black's great, until you have to wax it-and those trucks have a whole lotta acreage to cover...
Pretty much part of the reason I opted to buy a dtr rather than black mar.

Keep an eye on the slushbox, you'll probably be ok behind the gas motor but mine didn't last long backing the diesel.

Cut the front bumper and you can fit 35's with no lift, reducing roll while keeping ground clearance.

Pics with my stock tires and the 35" bfg's I run in the winter.

Been through a good bit of the lower 48 in it, and second only to my IHC's.

Enjoy the truck-last of the wing vent windows!

97 F-250/F-350 has got to be my favorite. I prefer the Powerstroke but 460 works. My buddy has a 97 F-350SRW standard cab with powerstroke. He just restored the body cause the truck is worth it. My other buddy has the same truck you just got but in stock form. Loves it, no problems!

LOL. And yes that was a heck of alot of black to wax. All these pics you guys are posting is gonna make me go shopping for another 97 350 prefferably a CC but Id take a standard cab but it's gotta have a powerstroke.
P.S. I sold it to get a new 2004 F-250 King Ranch CC 6.0 Diesel & it had a million warranty issues. Enjoy the new ride Dave!

Yes, these were a problem on older CVs too. I believe they are made that way to be a "weak link" in case someone gets caught in the window, like a little kid.
Hardest thing is just getting to them.
Good writeup by the way!

swaped the 37s for some 35s, rides alot smoother but still a bit rough on good bumps, gona try some diff shocks. i think it looks sweet the way it is, lowerd it about an inch and a half.

I will find another Dave. I always have kept my eyes open for the right one. I actually had 2 of them both 97 F350 CC LB Diesels. The very first was that blue with white in the middle 2-tone set up. Also had a 7.3 Excursion wish Inever sold. Ive been toying with getting another for a while, and would say when I find that certain one I will. High miles doesnt scare me on them, I see these tow co's with wreckers pushing 450,xxx and still running perfect. After seeing youre pics has got me stirred up.

It was dyno tuned by one of the best in Diesel business 4" down pipe, modfied air gate,K&n filter and 5" exhaust with no muffler it was one mean truck. Me and my darn impulses I was bad about that when younger I'd wake up 1 morning and sell things for something else. Notice the back end of the truck? That MM behind it isnt even phasing it. I think it may be about time to start shopping now that Iam down to one vehicle.. LOL

Nice find! I have something similiar..A 95 F350..bought it new, 36,000 miles now, not driven winters, no rust anywhere, not driven so much now for that matter. it gets 10 or 12ish mpg. It only has the 351, wish I would have got the 460, but it does have 4.10 gears. and the rest of the XLT stuff.
