Ok right now Im faced with a decision.
My Marquis has 202000 miles on her. It needs to get the timing done again. The fools that touched my car didnt time it properly. Plus they didnt ground it properly and put it back together sloppily.

So at this different shop I can pay $325 and get the engine timed properly and then more money to have them ground it properly. It could be $20 or another $100. Not sure.
OR
I can pay them $1200 to put an engine in that has around 65K miles on it.
Thing is Ive spent so much money on this car already and another $1200 is a lot of cabbage for me.

So..... if you think I SHOULD get the new engine, what would the advantages be for me? Resale value? Free coolant change? :dunno:

Yep, wouldn't waste money on a GM or CV.

Especially one that has over 200k on it.

The only advantage you will get is if you are driving it. This will NOT add value to the car. Unless you plan on keeping it for a while, just get the timing fixed once again. Only get another engine if you like the car and wanna keep it around longer. At 200K I would say the repairs are just going to keep coming.

Agreed, I turn mine loose at around 150K mi before they become money pits...

My '93 CV made it 286k miles on the orig motor before the odometer broke for the third time and I had moved to a city where no one could fix it. I think you'll be just fine fixing the timing for now. I'd say you have plenty of time to save your money for that 'new' engine.

Hmmmmmm........ well I would like a Marauder but alas Im not going to spend an extra $5K for one. And I really like my car. I just got custom gagues and put in a dual exhaust and fixed the auto climate control from not being able to switch vents, and I fixed the compass and I fixed the lighting control module too. Plus I put on new tires.

Well no. Because my engine could last for another 200K miles without needing much. Hence my confusion.

I would get it repaired, well maintained you'll get a good amount of service out of it still. Plus it looks damn good from the sig pic at least.
