I'm getting a 93 tune from d.r since a 93 would perform better. Is it a must that I also do colder plugs and 180 t'stat with a 93 tune or would it just perform better. Also is anyone of these combos unsafe then others

If your going to run colder plugs and stat tell DR so he can adjust the tune accordingly.

I'd suggest calling DR and discussing it with him.

^^^^ What Jim said. ^^^^

Advanced timing would be the reason for going to 93, along with the colder plugs and t'stat. Talk to Dennis about what you want and he can tweak the tune accordingly.

He's sending stat and plugs with it. Well I guess it to late now if he programed the tune for that already. Just wondering if there's any down falls to this

The higher the octane of fuel you use, the harder is is to detonate the fuel. The more you can advance timing. A step colder plug and a lower degree T-stat helps prevent detonation also. For the price of these items, it's a no-brainer.

No.

I'd still give him a call, he should be able to tweak the tune if need be and e-mail you any adjustments; you could then upload those changes to your x-cal from your computer.

So 93 burns hotter to accommodate the additional timing. If one of these are off it's spark knock

Yeah, spark knock is not a good thing, especially in our motors.

Ok so 93 colder plugs and stat is the safe way. But if spark knock ever happens what are the signs can I here it.

Spark knock sounds like marbles rattling around in a can.

It sounds like sharp, hard, metallic tapping/clicking.

With the potential for a loud BANG! followed by the emission of large amounts of oil through the unplanned "window" in the side of your block...:(

I ordered the same tune kit . This setup has been dyno tested not dyno guessed
This set up unlocks a lot of horses and has been field tested by a select few Marauders in Florida's Hi Way Patrol Corall some years back . Good Luck and Enjoy the neck SNAP

Aside from race fuel what other octane tune could he get?

You could get a 87 89 tune but that would be defeating the purpose of getting the most power you can make just to save 15 20 cents a gallon when a tune is 380 plus plugs and t'stat there's no reason to be cheap after that

Do not go to a colder plug or a cooler T-stat. Just burn the 93 and adjust accordingly. Your car will run crappier with the other changes.

In fact, I would recommend you save your money for some mod that actually will do something you can feel in the way of performance. These will do nothing for you.

What els do I have to adjust for a 93tune. And what's a better mod then a tune

I think my question was misconstrued. I maybe missing something in translation but you already have a premium fuel tune that came from Ford, so unless the car has been modified the MM already has a factory tune to run on 93 octane. Now if you want to change around the shift points and such that is a different story. Your bet bet is to call Lido at Alternative or Dennis Reinhardt and discuss what it is you are ultimatly trying to do and they will set you up.:)
