For a moment there, I thought (at first) that you got stuck into watching the "chick flick". :D
Your pic makes it appetizing.

Going to make me give out my secret recipe?!? Okay, just for you: Belgian Waffle mix. Thick, obviously, and if you want cornmeal like texture you can smoosh up graham crackers.
I think he found a place to steal the tomatos from!:beatnik:

I never cared for them myself, Georgann however will rape my whole garden for these. Have a hard time making salads if she get a hankering for some Fried Green Tomatoes.

Corn meal, egg, milk, cajun seasoning, pepper (fresh cracked)fry until golden brown, serve with ranch dressing or honey mustard dressing. If you use the cajun seasoning do not add salt. New Orleans favorite.

Been eating them since i was old enough for solid foods. Saturday morning breakfast fare. Mom's from Old Miss, pappas' from Tennesse.
Don't need no fancy coatings. Just diip in flour fry up in hot grease (lard when i was a youngin) sprinkle on a little salt and pepper when done cooking.
Pour some syrup, sorghum or molasses on the plate and sop it up with fresh homemade biscuit. Don't forget the glass of ice cold milk.

Your recipe is close, just mix your egg about 50/50 with some Louisiana Red Sauce. I prefer Franks but most of the authentic La. hot sauces are good.
Serve with more hot sauce.
For an other treat, fry your fish using hot sauce and mustard instead of egg.
I am a Texas Coona$$, Port Arthur baby!!
Then I moved to Luling La. to polish up on my cajun palette.

A nice full bodied brew in the batter to give it that "beer battered" taste, tends to thin the mix out so compensate accordingly to your liking
