Don't know if it's legit or just some promotional thing done by someone.

An unnamed Northern Virginia police agency has apparently scored itself a Nissan GT-R to use as a pursuit vehicle. Call it the last of the V6 Interceptors.
A company by the name of EVI Corporation spends its days outfitting law enforcement vehicles with all of the necessary electronics to track down baddies, and the company recently released a video showing a GT-R boasting a full range of blue and red flashers as well as the standard strobe treatment for both the headlights and taillights. Now, we've seen agencies snag high-dollar vehicles from drug kingpins and other seedy characters in the past, but this is something different.
According to the word kicking around the web, this GT-R showed up at EVI with a mere 13 miles on the clock, meaning its as fresh as a fallen snow. The only question is; which law-enforcement agency in the area (if any) saved up enough pennies to buy itself a Nissan GT-R for pursuit or public relations duty? EVI isn't saying for obvious reasons, but we're guessing it won't be too long before this machine gets its cover blown. Hit the jump for a video of the car with its lights blazing.

MOST "undercover" cars i have seen this way has red & blue strobes on the lower part of the front bumper where the fogs are and less white strobe.
BUT you never know ...that would be a real mood killer to get chased down by that lol

I'd bet that Fairfax County is buying that expensive ride.
They'll most likely use it to stop HOV lane violators....
BTW: Many years ago Virginia State Police used unmarked IROC-Z Camaros for patrols.
While traveling around the Beltway, I had one come up and glue itself to my 85 Mustang 5.0's rear bumper baiting me into a race.
Luckily, I didn't fall for it and he pulled out and passed me.
I looked over and saw that it was a State Trooper!!!....
When he pulled off the exit, I followed him to a 7-11 and asked him WTF?
He said that he gets LOTS of guys to race by tailgating them really close.
I concluded that he was a douchebag.

It's not a imported car, it is manufactured for US sale.

I believe hes referring to it being a nissan as opposed to a ford chevy or dodge.
Not an american brand vehicle.

At some level, this has to be entrapment.
However, even if it is, since any type of go-fast is the devil in most peoples' eyes, "the ends justify the means" I imagine...

Absolutely, I agree!
But I never wanted to test that theory in front of a judge.
"Ahhhhhhh....your honor...the fact that I downshifted to second and walked that lame ass IROC-Z up to 120mph is immaterial!
It is an obvious case of entrapment!"

I agree also.....shouldnt the officer be ticketed for tailgating?? Or inciting a race or something...

You would think but all they are doing is baiting the person. If the person takes the bait then that's their problem.

Yup. Caught is caught, it doesn't matter to me if they are riding a Big Wheel or a Crown Vic.

You wouldn't get a ride in the car, you'd get pulled over, hand cuffed and have to wait for a real cruiser to show up and then transport you.

Came across this:
It was confirmed. It is a personal car, owned by one of the officers. He contacted the company himself and they agreed to install their equipment on his car for free, as a demo vehical. There is no funding from the state towards the car.

Don't worry, guys. We've taken care of 3 GT-Rs on the new Matt Damon movie I'm working on here. They will all be destroyed by the time filming is done, and they look all Mad Max-ish right now. Can't post photos yet; confidentiality agreement!:(
I'm also calling BS on this video. We do stuff like that for the movies all the time. There is nothing there that isn't immediately reversilbe to go back to stock except the strobes in the headlight bodies. And hey, for the all internet press this video will "buy", it's a cheap investment.

How can a LEO afford that car. Is he from Louisiana?

My company's owner drives a GT-R to work every day. He says it's a 13 second car, stock. Something went wrong with (I think) the tranny and they sent the whole thing to Japan to diagnose and replace.

Common problem with the first year GTR.
Launch a hard hole shot and that sticky AWD set-up frags the transmission.
It'll come back with a hefty charge-non warranty repair for violating the owner's manual about drag racing the GTR.
Supposedly they fixed the fragile transmission problem on the newer GTRs....

And definitely a voided warranty when Nissan sees all the LEO equipment installed.
