I know imports aren't that popular with most of us, but I was wondering what you guys think of the Toyota Supra?

They are some stout 6 cylinder engines!
But they have such a 'light switch' power curve, I'm sure they are quite a handful on street tires.
Personally, I'd take a TT Ford GT FTW!

The Supra engines can make a lot of power. Large mains, I believe seven of them. Hell of a block actually. I shot this Supra dyno a while back:

I have to say, I always thought they were pretty sharp. All the craptastic body kits and Fast and Furious movies kind of turned me against them for a while. I'd still like to drop my ol' Chevy's engine into a Tiburon, I like those cars, too.

That dyno video proves my point.....
nothing until 5,000 rpm....then she really wakes up at 6,000 rpm and runs strong for another 2,000 rpm until redline at 8,000 rpm.
I'd like a usable power band of more than 2,000 rpm.
Still a cool car and much cheaper than that $400,000 LFA POS.....

As you can see, they can use extra weight in the back for more traction too! :D

The supra and the skyline are the kings on import power. I like the skyline better myself.

The newer ones, called Skyline over there and Infiniti G35/G37 over here, are just more ricer POS.

One of the best imports hands down, the 2jzgte motors they're optioned with are known for producing upwards of 900hp on stock internals.

I gotta say, I have always wanted a Turbo Supra....I hopefully will one day. I almost bought a 3000GT. I like those too, but like the Supra more.

the supra, go figure that they stopped making them in '96, and they look better than most cars do today. the r34 skyline is one of my favorites as well, and the nissan GTR is unbelieveable......as for the guy that would take a kb mustang over a supra...im sure you would, but lets compare apples to apples, kb mustang to a super tuned supra......you'd be nuts not to get the supra. lets face it guys, not all tracks are straight and a 1/4mile long.....a rustangs dream course:P

The Supra was a fine automobile and Id take one. Unfortunately pretty much all of them left have been "modded" to hell and back so I wouldnt touch one. Same thing for those early 90's 300ZXs or mid-90's 240SX coupes; great cars but finding a nice one now is almost impossible. Another nice one would be a 2 door Datsun 510 from 69-71. Ive got nothing against nice Japanese cars and would love to own a new LS460!

I would love to have a 90s supra, stock or already modified. Hands down my favorite import. That or an RX7.

I forget the numbers per year, but the TT Supra was produced from 1993 - 1998.......... The 97's & 98's are very rare in stock form as there were around 1300 total I think imported between the 2 years.
Great car produced to a very high quality standard..... Unlike the crappola the company produces today...:burnout:

When I was in Okinawa, you could pick up the turbo (not AWD) version for maybe 3 or 4k. They were almost beaters over there. OF course the Americans were buying them up.

SUPRA shares the chassis with the lexus 400 coupe. The Supra has the best resale of any japanese auto built on the planet . [ ROLLING REAL ESTATE ] The powertrain is bulletproof . You can remove the twin turbo set up and R/R a larger single one and go Hi 10's low 11's with a SOME CASH $$

Twin Turbo's and 6spds/with 6spds were produced all years the Supra was offered, again some years the mix produced might make the config you are looking for a rare beast.... I would venture to say that a 96 - 98 Twin Turbo automatic with removable roof would be a very rare find.
Probably commands big bucks on the open market:beer:
