I have been reading the post and everyone agrees that getting the chip or microtuner really helps with the shifting of the automatic transmission.
This is great news, but here is my question are these improvements seen with the overdrive on or off?
I normally drive with my overdrive on to save on gas and turn it off when I want to play.
Will the chip help in both modes? Or is it only good in one of the modes?

The overall shifting of the car is improved.

I notice firmer shifting in both modes

Bowman:

I can't speak for the MicroTuner, but both the chip and a good dyno-tune/reflash will improve both shift firmness and timing, so the transmission shifts like it "should", not like the EPA/CAFE nazis want it to...this is irrespective of whether OD is on or off.

Does having the chip/reflash/tuner reduce tranny temp? willie

That's a good question, willie...maybe someone with a temp gauge can answer that...

My gut feeling, though, would be no, it won't...the amount of time the transmission spends actually executing a shift vs. the time a gear spends fully engaged is very small, so the decreased slip with a chip/flash/tuner is a small percentage of the total operational time. It WILL, however, reduce wear on the clutch packs, and this alone will add to the longevity of the transmission.

Just now got back from my first ride since mods, shifting as well as grunt seems a lot better, I'll post more soon.
