Hi,
I've been looking to try and get more active and at my new employer they have a bicycle club. I was thinking about buying a bicycle and one of those strap on bicycle racks for the trunk. Any issues with fitment on the MM? Most of the little cars on the road with them don't have such large trunks and below the beltline. How do they keep the front wheel from banging the trunk?

Make sure you buy a quality rack from Saris or Yakima. Just go to a local bike shop and they will take care of you.

Or you can goto www.performancebike.com

I have a rack that goes on my class 2 trailer hitch. I prefer this over what you are looking into.

Do you have a picture of what the trailer post looks like on a Marauder? How visible is it and will it require my Pro-Guard be removed? Does it take the curved tow bar to get under and back over the rear bumper? I always thought putting a trailer hitch on a collectible car was frowned upon. I've heard the term "hidden hitch" before. What does that mean?

You can modify the Pro-Guard to fit the hitch.

A hidden is just that ... a hidden hitch. google is your friend.

"Hidden Hitch" is another trailer hitch company. Mine is a Draw-Tite.

If you have space in the trunk, and you have quick release hubs, the bike will fit in the trunk. That's how I carry mine.

I have this rack with bicycle fork attachements on each side. It holds 2 bikes with ease.

Thanks guys. The "hidden" hitches that I googled didn't look so hidden in the images (other than being small). The Draw Tite looks to be the least noticeable to me. Maybe I will go the trailer hitch route since it appears that may give more options when traveling on road trips.

Stopped by Uhaul today. They said they can order and install me a hitch. She recommended the 2 inch. She seemed to think that was the size for the bicycle racks. They also can order the 1 1/2 inch. Anyone know what size the hitch is on the standard bicycle carrier?

My hitch is the smaller one.

Go with the two inch. Most racks are made for them.

I have a Thuele(?) rack that fits in the smaller receiver. Holds four bikes, works great, somewhere there is picture of it on mm.net. I will search.

Definately go for the hitch.
I had a trunk mount when i first bought my car and now have permanent mark in the paint from the mounting pads. Sun an heat are not friend to that style.

I now have the two inch hitch with Thule carrier.

OK. Decided on the two inch hitch. Maybe go with the 41116 from Draw-Tite or just go with the two inch that Uhaul recommended. Seems to be the same part number for Uhaul and Draw-Tite (41116). Maybe Uhaul uses the draw-tite brand.

Uhaul doesn't actually make their hitches. If the number is the same, it's probably a Draw-tite. Most Hitches are actually made by Cequent.

Got my hitch installed finally. It is noticeable I think but oh well. Anyway, the manager at the Uhaul was definately impressed with the Marauder. At first they asked if it had custom exhaust. I said no. They said they had never heard of a Marauder. They asked if it was a cop/FBI car. I said no. He drove it off the install ramp and put some gas into it while turning it around to be ready for me. He then got out and took a good look at the car and talked about how impressed he was with the car. :)
