I guess I can just paint this... any other suggestions...?
I believe this is called a "Dohickie" or maybe a "thing-a-majig"... not sure, but it's the only rusty thing on my engine...:(
So do I just paint it...with heat engine paint..?
Thanks, Architect

Its your EGR and i dont know if engine paint can withstand the temps of this thing. it recycles exhaust so it gets a lot hotter than most other engine components, but who know....give it a shot.

Use the ceramic header paint in any auto store. Good to 2000 deg. The trick is to follow the directions, esp. the curing part.

Do an egr delete. Uh that's illegal though isn't it? Oh well. I plan on doing one. It does make the engine look like the sixties.

I think you are correct...;)... they sell a small can of brush-on header paint... "black" ...drys to a ceramic finish when engine heats up....
Thanks for the information...

I did mine with gloss black engine paint some years ago.
I'll take a look at it tonight and shoot some pictures of its' present condition.

it dosent have to be high temp paint, i used a paint that looks like raw cast iron when it dries and it held up fine.

I have paint two egr valves just used wire brush to clean loose rust and then break clean. Tape off plastic area and paint them with silver 1200deg paint.

Well so much for that gloss black engine paint!
My EGR is now returning to a rusty mess.
I painted the IAC valve and the intake coolant fittings a gloss black back in early 2005.

Engine paint does not hold up. Definatly use header paint.
