OK,

Needing tires soon for my DD - 2008 Ford Fusion.

Looking online, I found 'best sellers' on TireRack for this application - 225/45-18

Popular brand names show Continental, Yokohama and Kumho. They also list Goodyear, which are currently on the car.

The best reviewer rating is for the http://www.tirerack.com/images/css_elements/searchResults/quickLook.gifhttp://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/conti/co_xtrcontactdws_ci2_s.jpg (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?tireInde x=1&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2008&autoModel=Fusion&autoModClar=SE&width=225/&ratio=45&diameter=18&sortCode=53700&skipOver=true&minSpeedRating=T&minLoadRating=S&tab=BS&filterType=bestselle#)Continen tal ExtremeContact DWS (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DWS&partnum=245YR8ECDWS&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Ford&autoYear=2008&autoModel=Fusion&autoModClar=SE) (Ultra High Performance All-Season (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/types/uhpas.jsp))

I have never ran Continentals, and wanting to know if anyone has, and what their thoughts are on them?

Price of $146.00 (each) isn't too bad considering.

All input will be most appreciated.

The ExtremeContact DWS is an excellent tire.

I have recommended it to three different people, all of whom have purchased it. One was for my mom's Grand Am GT and she had NO complaints about its year-round performance. She lives in one of the snowiest areas of NE Ohio.

Great!

That's what I want to hear.

I need a good tire that will perform in all weather conditions and also deliver a decent ride, not too noisy and will last a while.

Average miles driven per day is around 35 miles (to and from work) M-F, and general driving on the weekends.

Anyone else care to chime in with their recommendations?

A friend at work loved them on his car (2000 Supercharged Mustang GT). I do not have this model, but my wife's car has a lower end model. Continental is owned by Michelin for what it's worth.

And I've liked the Continentals on my Marauder, but I have the CrossContact UHP on there.

Kumho I ran a set of Kumho tires on my old '02 Marquis. I can't remember what model they were but they're no longer available with the tread pattern I had. They were great in the snow, okay in the rain, quiet on the road, and fairly durable.

My friend has a set of Kumho Ecsta on his Grand Marquis. He bought them based on the good luck I'd had with my Marquis. Unfortunately, his tires have worn out much quicker than mine did.

I've run the following brands since '97 when I got my license: Goodyear, Firestone, BF Goodrich, Cooper, Dunlop (and their off-brand, Fierce), Continental, Kumho, Kelly-Springfield, Pirelli.

Every Goodyear and Firestone tire I drove on was absolute crap - noisy, lousy in inclement weather, wore prematurely. My Pirellis were excellent handlers and long lasting (surprising) but noisier than anything I've ever driven. The best tires I've ever driven on have been Coopers and Continentals.

I ran Kumho Ecsta (I think that was the name) on my old SHO. Great tire. I don't drive in snow, but in rain in tracked well. Mileage, well I don't usually buy tires that have a mileage warranty anyways.

I had the previous model tire on my current foxbody, really good tire. I believe most BMWs come with Continental tires from factory.

Hello Mike,

Great tire I have them on Dana 2002 C70 volvo and after 20k still about half of the tread. Just a note she only gets about 20-25k out of any tire that I have tried on her car. YOU will love them.

Russ Call if you have any question.

Looks like Continental tires for the DD will be ordered soon. Please post a short-term review once you have a few miles and inclement weather. I'm interested to see if I'll be 4 for 4 on recommending these.
