subwoofer help

im looking to install 2 15in. kickers subwoofers sometime within the month. will the setup weigh me down? i dont want to trade performance for luxury

It will weigh you down yes, but when you blow the windows out and blow the trunk off, that should help balance out the weight gain.

I wouldn't really call two 15's "luxury", more like obnoxious. Plus, with only a K&N, and some weld in flowmasters, who are you racing anyways... RV's? Everyone knows stock MM's have little in the "performance" department.


Keep in mind the huge electrical draw that two 15's will have on the stock electrical system. Its not the greatest as is, I can watch my volt meter go from 14 to 12 just by tapping on the brakes. If you are putting any half decent system in your car, upgrade the alternator to at least a 160 size, and upgrade the battery cables to at least 0 gauge...

Two 15s? That's just looking for major boom boom.

You don't need to have huge speakers to have huge bass. Getting a good quality, have custom box made to it's required specs and then get a good quality amp is all you need. Sealed boxes will have the tightest bass, ported/slotted will not be as tight but make some more noise and bandpass style will just make a lot of noise because of all the air it's moving.

It also depends on what kind of music you normally listen to. For rock/pop/techno 10 is good, rock/pop/hip-hop/rap 12 is good and for hip-hop/rap 15 and up is good. This has always been my reference.

what kind of kicker are you getting??? CVX, CVR L3's, L7's??? and..........

whatever kinda amp you get divide the total RMS wattage by 14.4V, lets say 1500W, the amp itslef will draw about 104A so with your stock alternator im guessing somewhere around 140A full output you will need to upgrade alternator to at least 175A, also the BIG 3 will also help you out...one more thing 14.4V is in a perfect world

the car is already heavy go with 4 oem size component speakers WITH A AMP!. and or a high powerd 12.ifyou do both you will have good bass but if you want big booom boom in this car then two 15s is loosing class

If you want to do 15's go ahead but unless you plan on spending some G's most 12's will accomplish the same unless you are doing DB drags or something? 12's will have much better range and there arent very many songs that go under 20hz anyway. My .02 is all, just something to think about.

You don't need 15s it too much for the marauder. I had 2 L7 15s with 2 rockford fosgates t1500 amps and within a week my trunk and taillight were all loose.,so I went with 3 10in L7 and 1 amp with infinity components all around. Sounds a lot better
