View Full Version : The good old days.

I was just reminiscing about the good old days...

Remember how many members jumped in to help MarauderMark when his engine blew up?
That sort of care and generousness seems unbelievable today, and I don't see it ever happening again.

I sent Mark money to help him rebuild his engine....the first time.
Now I would know better.
I hope that Mark and Peg are doing well.

I wouldn't contribute today as I have NO spare money....even for my own Marauder.

I would also be more cognizant of who built and tuned the blown engine, and who was rebuilding and tuning the new engine.

I'll say this, once you give something to someone, it is theirs to do as they please with it. So, if it is going to hurt your feelings knowing that what ever gift/help you give someone is going to be used in a form/fashion that you don't agree with, I would suggest not contributing at all.

I believe it to be a generational thing. As in that those of us who put down premium dollar to own one of these beautiful cars new had more invested than just money. We were the targeted market. We loved the car as is, not all "personalized". Its kinda like my wifes LS8. I always wanted one of those, but at $43-45K, no way on a cop's salary. When we were able to buy a very low mileage vs age LS8 I was very pleased and treated like my MM. Its my wifes and she treats it as such. She loves it, but drives her like a rented mule. Somethings will never change. If I put her in a top of the line _________, it would be the same....

Different times.

Now, many are worried that they are one "corporate downsizing" or "pissed off boss" away from being unemployed.

In our area, they are 9,000 donated turkeys short of the amount they need to help the poor on Thanksgiving.

Never had tha problem before.

I've contributed to atleast two engines as well, plus donated parts and tools free of charge, even shipping, and slept real good at night knowing I could help. I for one haven't changed. As long as the finances are there, I would help however I can. Dumb? Old fashioned? Who knows, who cares, it's who I am.

Yeah, I remember those days...

I gave $$$ for Blackmobile's motor and gave away some expensive parts and tuners...to people I never have met...

It feels good to be able to do that...

Unfortunately, times are different...

Now, I help through service, and not so much by giving $$$...

I've meet lots of great MM owners that are local to me. Justbob has helped me with my rear dif and my Eaton swap. As I have lent a helping hand to him and would happily do so for anyone else. All is not lost in today's crummy world.

Times are different, we have a couple of generations that don't want to work, want to claim that they are poor/deprived and get in line for every handout known to man.

3 weeks ago I hired a contractor (private & recommended) to install some interior doors and do some trim work to the tune of $1600, he never showed, called him several times, no answer, I installed the doors & trim, 5 days later, the toolbag calls, he's ready to do the job a week after the time he was supposed to start, just a **** lazy dopesmoker.

Lol. I had contacted 4 different electricians all recommended to install 200amp service, install all lights, switches and some rewiring of our basement so I can refinish it. All 4 worthless jagbags showed up, looked around said this and that and never ever called back.none jagbag did call back a month later, left a message saying he lost my number. What ever loser. I finally have found a 5th electrician who has been awesome.

People ***** suck. I'd love to weed out weak worthless leaches.

If the government is so bent on making every job a government job, why not make unemployment welfare recipients work for that money? Not people that are too ill or genuinely disabled, but people that just can't find (or don't want to find) work at the moment? At least then when the money is being disbursed, society can actually get something out of it, and then one of the few actual perks of socialism can take place because in a sense, EVERYONE wins.

This is the reason why our donations to charity have plumetted. All I have to do is look next door. I won't even take a smigeon of a chance that something I donate lands in those worthless, living human waste's possession. The head mutt's excuse why he can't work is because he can not take orders from anyone, and has children. They take their children on job interviews. That worthless thing spawned three times... I keep telling myself: This is a test, only a test... :mad2:

If I could I would help out in anyway possible even if it was a small way, learned that from the pops. Sadly I'm not much help, being that i'm just now really teaching myself about engines lol. But its good to know that there are people on the site that love these cars just as much as I do AND are willing to give helping hands no matter how small of help.

.. Also lost on the 70's talk, really wonder what went on during them years (seems frightening lol)
