We are doing a mod motor in a Fox Body Mustang.

It has been a long slow process fitting it in, but we tinker with it when we can. Well, on Friday night, the powder coater dropped off the motor parts. They sure look purdy....

This car is more for show than go.

It will make 300 rwhp through a manual but that will be plenty for the car.

I need to get some better pics but these will give you an idea of where the car stands. We even did the underside of the car.

Powder coated over the stock finish. It is not smooth like the valve and coil covers.

Well we are making progress. It is going slow with the demands of the shop and all of the other cars that I have to maintain ar home (no, I am not complaining), but slow progress is better than no progress.

We have the power steering pump on the motor and the trans mounted. We had to fab up the cross member and had to order a trans mount. The trans mount came in today so that will go on next Monday. The aluminum drive shaft has to get to the drive shaft shop for some shortening and rebalancing.

We pulled the column and two pedal set up out. We got a three pedal set up and it will be going in shortly. Then we will put a tilt column back in the car (this is a '93 so there was no tilt). I still need to decide if I will keep the factory steering wheel or go with something aftermarket.

We also did more of the wiring harness lay out and mounted up the CCRM.

I will say that the harnesses have me stressed out the most. Compared to my old school cruisers, these cars have a bunch of wires!!!!

As we were going along, I realized that when I ordered a cluster from my friend Andy at Florida 5.0, I forgot that we were going with a 3650 trans so tonight I had to pack the cluster back up and send it back down to Florida so that Andy can swap in an electronic speedo for the mechanical one I spec'd when the cluster was built. This will not cause any major set back, but it will cost me more $$$ to get the right speedo.

Here are some pics of the cluster. Let me tell you that the Florida 5.0 cluster is a work of art. Neatly fab'd up and every wire (and there are a bunch!!!) is tagged and the instruction sheet is very good.

This car will likely stay tame.

This weekend, I temporarily traded my '03 Cibra for a '10 GT Vert so that Mizz MO could see what a Vert was like abnd she loved it. So I want to keep this car to something that she can actually ride in and enjoy. Hell, I even offerred to put an auto back in it so that she could drive it but she didn't want me to do that.

THis car has been a long time coming. I can not wait until we finish it! The problem is we usually only get to work on it a few Mondays a month.

Another Monday = more progres!!!!

Today we did a bunch of organizing and ordered up a lot of parts. I need a branch off of Little Wesley's money tree!!!

Anyway, we got the Florida 5.0 cluster installed and wired -- it was a little time consuming because although Andy from Florida 5.0 sends out a beautiful product with every connection you need, we decided to solder all of the connections.

We also fit the radiator and fabbed up some of the mounts. We need a bracket which we ordered to finish it up -- we should have that wrapped up next Monday.

We also did some more wiring and got the starter solenoid hidden away and wired.

We installed and wired the IAC and the TPS. We also plumbed the heater core.

Not of picture worthy stuff, but here are a couple:

Anyway, the speakers are in and they sound great. Once the trunk is finished and I can do the final hook ups on the sub, this car is gonna rock.

I forgot to snap a "before" picture, but we started by cleaning up the trunk area and then lining the spare tire well with carpet:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album02/Trunk%20Sub%20Install-1735930287.JPG?m=1342525910

Then we built a sub floor for the subwoofer and amp:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album02/Trunk%20Sub%20Install-1397386052.JPG?m=1342526444

And a couple of hours into the project we had this:

The car is getting closer and closer to completion.

All that is left now is finishing the air conditioning (man, I wish I had installed a '99 - '04 evaporator!!!!!), a little tidying up and final completion.

Meanwhile, here is a dyno clip. The car made 300 rwhp. Driveability is perfect!!

Today we made the missing link for finishing up the AC system that my buddy Keith started.

We converted a mod motor style drier to a Fox body style fitting so that it will hook up to the Fox style evaporator using all of the other components from a '99-'04 car (condenser, lines, compressor, etc.). This saved us from pulling the dash and swapping in the mod-style evaporator.

Here are a couple of pics:

Funny thing is that the OEM driers are all steel and I needed an aluminum drier so I could have Brandon TIG an aluminum fitting to it to make it work.

No, these cars are not cheap to put together! I watch your thread on SVTP (I did not know it was you until know) and say "man, and I thought that I spent a lot of money....."

Your build is killer and I love it. I went a different direction though. My wife hates most of my cars but she likes the Vert and my '69 Vette so I went with a build that would make enough power to keep me happy but not so much that she would b!tch. LOL

This coming Monday I should wrap up the AC and a few minor details (I need to swap the fan as the one I have on there is touching down and not running at full speed.

Then it is off to my paint guy for final assembly, a new top, and tint and then I am "done"!

The car drives amazing and the Cobra brakes and "just enough power" make it a blast to drive!!!

Thanks for sharing the pics of yours. I love that car.

For those that don't know, $25K for what goes into one of these builds is a very faor price.

What did you do for a wiring harness(es)?

The '93 was a feature car. There are those that think what we did to it was sacrielege. Personally I love the way it drives. My car makes no where near the power yours does but yesterday morning I took it on a blast around my neighborhood (without my wife of course) and I must say it is a blast to drive!
When it is all buttoned up, I have a feeling I will be driving it a good bit.

Today, I went to visit my man Derrick Smith to check on the status of the Yellow Car. I decided to blow the carbon out of my Cobra so I drove it up the country roads to Derrick's.

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album12/Cobra%2014.JPG?m=1345349001

Well as we all know, sometimes ou have to go backward to go forward.

Derrick blew the font end of the Yellow Car apart so that he could address some paint issues and then do the final assembly.

So here is where the car stands now. The front end has been disassembled:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album02/Yellow%20Car%201%20%28Large%29 .jpg?m=1345350223

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album02/Yellow%20Car%2021.JPG?m=134535 0222

And so is the bumper:

http://legalknevil.com/gallery3/var/resizes/album02/Yellow%20Car%208.JPG?m=1345350 270

And the fender liners have been freshened up:

This is the repainted hood.

Keep in mind that this is the paint straight from the gun and the paint has not been cut and buffed yet!!!

I think we are going to go with flat black on the raised part of the cowl to break up the yellow a bit. I figure I can always go back if I don't like it.

Yeah, I know, the RH headlight is missing. Some how when I was collecting parts, I ended up with tow LH headlights and no RH headlight! Grrrrrrrr!!!!! A new RH one will arrive today. Then we can do the ScottRods filler panels.

We ended up using the MRT hood struts and I think they came out great. I really like them. I also use polished hood hinges and hood hinge caps although they don't show up in the picture very well.
