The trunks on these cars (and the sister Ford 500) are humongous with the rear seats down.

Almost SUV-like.

I think I remember reading that these cars were Volvo based.

I have 3 boys, 21, 17, 15 all over 6' tall... I can shove all them in there and close the trunk..... with plenty of extra room for the ropes I tie them to the tree's with and everything...... i can send pics if want? but seriously, there is a ton of room, girlfriends car and she plays a full sized electric piano (keyboard) and with seats down, that fits, plus stand and mic stands and whatnots.....
thanks Jerry for the input, so are you interested.... ?

Not really.

I'm shopping around for a low miles, used Explorer/Mountaineer in the event my 94 Bird dies. At 151,000, car's hanging on by a thread, but still gets me to Home Depot and Lowe's.

There's a ton of 2008/9/10 FoMoCo SUVs at local dealer's that are being turned in off leases. Just have to get lucky and find one at the right price/low mileage. Also, must have extended warrantiy.

Found a Taurus X wagon/SUV/crossover at one dealer, but miles were too high.
