There is a lot of difference between what you are showing and what is sold in the states as "Sushi", personally I like it, but am not that fond of squid.

Nor am I.

The pics taken are at a restaurant I frequent weekly, that is less than 1 mile from my place. (How can I not?!)

:D

Opened a few months ago, and have made friends with the owner and his staff.

This is absolutely, the best sushi I have enjoyed to date.

In Japan, they do not use avacado or brown rice.

Although avacado is used at this restaurant, it is not a 'show-stopper' for me in the least.

I also enjoy Sapporo beer to wash the sushi down with.

;)

Mizz MO loves the stuff.

I don't eat fish though.

I have, however, found enough (crab, shrimp, etc.) on the menu to please my palate so that I can take Mizz MO for her favorite dinner.

OH Boy!!!

We eat that every day here...

Spicey tuna is my favorite!

Raw fish mixed with sea salt, limu, inamona, green onion, chilli pepper, and a little sesame sead oil is a deliciousy here in Hawaii...It's called "poke"...but not pronounced in the english fashion..as in poke your eye out...:shake:

Goes GREAT with beer!

Aloha

I can't believe I was 'on the fence' over trying sushi as many years as I was.

The chef always throws somethnig together for me to try, and when I ask him what it is, he replies: "I don't know?" Then laughs.

Sean knows I do not like eel, but eel sauce I prefer over Soy.

Wasabi? Oh yeah!

:D

The best!
I carry soy and wasabi on my boat. Sushi is best when it is still twitching when it hits your tongue!!
There is something primal about looking the critter in the eye while you are eating!

I lived in Japan for 2 years, and got to eat all kinds of stuff. I prefer Asahi extra dry beer with mine. I would also have chefs give me things to try. One time it looked like the "slices" of ginger that are usually on the side only a little bigger, turns out it was goat sashimi.

Just an FYI sushi is anything with that type of rice (not necessarily raw meat). Sashimi is the raw meat part.

Kumo Japanese Restaurant in Davenport, FL off US-27 makes the most awesome Spicy Scallop hand rolled into a cone of dried seaweed. A must have to/from Tampa or Kissimmee.

Usually hit Crazy Sushi when up for sales meetings in Jacksonville. Right behind Copeland's.
