Yep thats the price the shipping is what makes it expensive think it was like 275 just for the shipping since it so big

marauder410
12-02-2011, 10:06 PM
Also the body shop said they had to put a differnt expensive type of paint so make sure the paint will stick and last a long time since the hood has a gel coating on top and just got the body shop to install it and put the hood pins for for 50.00 bucks so all together if i remember right for the hood shipped expensive paint put on it installed and hood pins with installation i think i paid a total of 1150.00 yea it got pretty expensive for this mod but makes car look awesome

Sounds like a deal, I paid $900 just for the paint and fitting on mine + the cost of the hood and shipping. I will say that the paint match is almost dead on, being that the hood was panel painted and not blended, the match is phenomenal.

what ones are you using the low profile one i like the gt style im gonna buy these and see how much they will chjarge me to switch them but mine are a bigger so gonna ave to fill the gaps

how would it be possible to switch to these from mine that are a little bigger if so how hard would it be

Spectragod
12-04-2011, 04:20 PM
It would be tough to change to what I am using, the larger counterparts of the quick latch will not work without a lot of modifications, it would be hard to go to something smaller without a lot of body and paint work. I would be satisfied with what your using, I considered them as well.

You did get the new gas hood shocks for it and not re-use the stock ones right? I've had my hood for a couple of years now and it doesn't move at high speeds at all and I don't have hood pins.

I got tired of my blower pulley in the insulation on the stock hood, and the air intake rubbing on the stock hood's cross member (after I removed the insulation), I thought about re-working the stock hood, and still may, but for the time being, this is what I am going to use.

boatmangc - Has anybody checked IATs before/after the cowl hood?
Over the years (have had a true cowl scoop hood (unlike the ClassGlass, cowl-like) since 2006) I have taken several under-hood, engine bay temperature readings.

IAT temp's aren't affected much, though cool-down time is somewhat shortened.

My BIG advantage is the cooling effect on the intake - tube, throttle body, throttle body adapter, etc.. My experience has been that the noted components remain at a few degrees above ambient temperature. i.e. 86 when the outside temp' is 84. *CAVEAT: This is while driving.

Also ... Have a heat shield with COOL IT Aluminized Heat Barrier™ on the underside for the intake tube. The result is a 100-120degree difference between the intake tube and the bottom of the heat shield.

That's because of the angle of the pic's. Being made pic' ...

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2206000-2206999/2206612_93_full.jpg

Besides being a 3" fiberglass scoop grafted to a steel hood ...

The rear of the scoop is at the rear of the hood and only a few inches off the windshield.

Unlike that of the cowl-like of the ClassGlass, which comes-up short by several inches.

Others here have fabricated extensions to the ClassGlass to compensate for the short-coming.

ClassGlass is all the way out in Cumberland, Md.
That's almost to Pittsburgh.
Plus, that hood is a bulky item.

BTW: I was out in Cumberland yesterday on business.
I'm out there @ every month. I can save local CAM members that shipping cost if anyone is going to buy a cowl hood from ClassGlass.

According to the other thread it sounds like classglass is willing to make anything if there are 10 orders for it.

Maybe they could make one that follows the contours of the original hood like Todd's.
