View Full Version : My (almost) new job!

CBT

Update on the job hunt:

Last week I had 3 interviews. I turned down one offer Monday, the other one wants to do a second interview, and the third one made me an offer yesterday. Since I like my boss I told him I would give him a chance to make a counter offer. I told him what the deal was yesterday and said when I leave work tomorrow I will either be driving to see you or driving to sign paperwork at the other place. This morning he told his boss, who told his boss, who walked the counter-request to the president of the company who said "Yep, keep him."
So, I managed to invest 4 hours of my time on Friday and 20 bucks in gas and get a return of........

....over 15 thousand dollars a year extra, plus the new title of Senior Consulting Field Engineer.

You can. It's up to you.
Work to better yourself, advance your position at your employer. Make yourself an invaluable employee.
If there is no advancement to be had - change jobs or careers.
Never use the words "good enough", do everything to the best of your abilities. Success will follow.

The only limitations in life are self imposed!!!

Good luck! :D

Congratulations! In today's economy it really means something when you get a raise...but a raise like that means you are truly an asset to the company. Good for you, and them for recognizing that!

True!

Most companies don't bother with your 2 weeks advance notice....as soon as you give notice....it's out the door!

Thanks, everybody! New pay starts today, woo-hoo! The increase in pay is 30.59%, I cannot complain. Signed the offical "I accept the terms and conditions of this offer" paperwork Friday. My resume is still under official revue (whatever that means) at another place, so that could also lead to something. I had a 3 year plan when I got here to move up or move out, it took 3 years/4months. So now it's on to the next 3 year plan: Work hard, play hard, drive Marauder like a boss as often as possible.
It's basically the same plan. :D
